I am selling my old Merc Topaz Diesel. It is all original and gets about 40 miles per gallon overall. I can take it down the 4 lane road with the cruise control set at 65 and the air on and do this. It is not a race car. Acceleration is slow but is still fun to drive. I bought it from the original owner to drive to work. The body is pretty rusty on the bottom and needs work if you are going to drive it a lot. I replaced the water pump, glow plugs and fuel line and serviced it when I bought it. It starts well in the winter. Also has a 110V engine heater. In January I replaced the front axle assemblies, RH wheel bearing and ball joints. I also replaced a tie rod end and the LH front caliper and rear brake shoes. The air conditioning works well. 2 electric window are not working. I put on used 14 radials that have approx. 70% tread remaining. I have been driving it and it is ok. The body is rusty and floor panels are perforated. The drive train is decent. I would like to see someone do some work on body/frame if they are to use it. It does run and drives. |

Preposed class-action lawsuit targets 'defective' MyFord Touch
Tue, 16 Jul 2013A national law firm, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, has filed a proposed class action lawsuit whose presupposition is that MyFord Touch is defective. Specifically, the complaint states that the system - as well as the MyLincoln Touch and MyMercury Touch clones - often freeze, fail to respond to voice or touch commands and have issues connecting to mobile phones.
According to Hagens Berman managing partner Steve Berman, MyFord Touch is a theoretically "brilliant idea" that falls short in actual execution. Said Berman in a press release, "In reality, the system is fundamentally flawed, failing to reliably provide functionality, amounting to an inconvenience at best, and a serious safety issue at worst."
Other MFT issues enumerated within the 41-page filing include problems controlling the window defroster, rear-view camera and navigation system. The suit maintains that Ford is aware of the problem but has yet to submit a workable and acceptable solution to MFT customers. Scroll down if you'd like to read the full press release.
Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage
Mon, 03 Jan 2011The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

eBay Find of the Day: Mercury Marauder two-door convertible

Near as we can tell, it's the same 2002 Mercury Marauder that was modified into a two-door convertible by Ford for the 2002 Chicago Auto Show. According to the seller, this car still boasts its Eaton supercharger bolted to a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and at the time of its debut, the engine was rated at a lofty 335 horsepower. We have a hard time believing that the extra ponies would do much to offset the weight of the additional frame stiffeners and top mechanism on the car, however.
The vehicle is currently offered for sale by a dealer in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, though the listing is mum on how the convertible managed to make its way from Ford's Windy City show stand into the seller's inventory.
