Up for auction is my 2002 Mini Cooper S.

It is Electric Blue with black interior and has 139,278 miles.
It is a base model with a 5 speed manual transmission, power windows and locks, cd player, and leatherette seats.
My brother took this car in as part of a trade for a truck that he was selling.
I bought the car from him because I always wanted a Mini, but never could afford to buy one.
I had full intentions to simply rebuild the motor and drive it. However, I'm finding that I just don't have the time to work on it. My work has picked up from 40 hours to 50/60 per week.
The car is complete and in very good shape, but it has a knock or rattle. I'm not a mechanic and I have not taken the car to a mechanic.
When I purchased the car I simply assumed the worse case that it may be a rod knock and intended to rebuild the motor. I drove the car around the block a few times and parked it just so that I do not make it any worse. It has very good power and runs great except for the rattle/knock once and a while. The power steering does not work because it needs a new power steering pump. Cosmetically the car is in good shape expect for one tear on the side of the driver's seat and the original owner had some graphics on the sides that has discolored the paint. This might buff out or you may want to repaint or put graphics over it.
This car is being Sold As Is.

Please do not bid unless you can pay by PayPal and pick the car up. I will not ship the car.

Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year

Thu, 14 Nov 2013

Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Here's the list of cars brought to the comparison test: Audi R8 V10 Plus; BMW 435i; BMW M6 Competition Package; Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51; Ferrari F12 Berlinetta; Ford Fiesta ST; Jaguar F-Type V8 S; Jaguar XFR-S; Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model Wagon; Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series; Mini John Cooper Works GP; Nissan GT-R Track Edition; and Porsche Cayman S.
To find out the results of the comparison, head over to Road & Track's website or check the press release below, where you'll also find the magazine's top-rated vehicles in eight categories. Want more? Head over to the 2013 PCotY hub. But before you do that, take a stab at guessing the winner of PCotY (we'll give you one hint: it isn't a Porsche).

Mini bringing new 230-hp John Cooper Works to Detroit

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

Mini models may keep getting incrementally bigger, but then so do their engines. Or more powerful, anyway - especially when it comes to the John Cooper Works performance models. The JCW version of the first (post-revival) generation R50, which was really more of an upgraded Cooper S than its own model, packed a 1.6-liter supercharged four with 200 horsepower. The following R56 JCW upped that incrementally to 208 hp, but the next Works hatchback is now rumored to pack around 230 horses.
Tipped to be revealed in both three- and five-door body-styles at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show half a year from now, the F56-gen Mini John Cooper Works hatchback is expected to use the same 2.0-liter turbo four as the new Mini Cooper S, but increasing the output from 189 hp to approximately 230. That would mean it would be more powerful than either of the two previous John Cooper Works GP editions to make the new JCW the most powerful road-going Mini to date, backed by 285 pound-feet of torque driving through a six-speed manual or available automatic transmission to deliver what promises to be a blistering pace for the latest retro hatchback.

Tony Hawk jumps a moving Mini

Sun, 25 May 2014

Remember a couple of years ago when Tony Hawk jumped over a Lexus LFA on his skateboard? Well that was nothing compared to what he's done here.
Sure the LFA is a more impressive car than a Mini hatchback, but that Japanese supercar was sitting still when the world's most famous skater jumped over it. And it was parked sideways. This time Tony's jumped a moving car, front to back. It gets even more impressive than that when you see what happens to the ramp after he's done with it, but we don't want to ruin the surprise.
The stunt was performed in celebration of the partnership between Mini USA and Hawk's Birdhouse Skateboards Tour, details of which you can read in the press release under the video below.
