Owners Thoughts (if you care to read):

I am the original owner of this 2006 Mini Cooper S JCW GP, which I have decided to sell because of my new job driving constraints. Let me first say that I have had a spare-no-expense approach to this car since I have owned it.  Also, if you are new to knowing about this car just google it and you will quickly understand what it means to be an owner of a GP.  This car is limited - only 415 shipped to the US and all of us original owners were put on a waiting list to get one.  I have saved every piece of documentation including all of the flyers, mailers, and maintenance docs regarding this car.  All service has been done either at Mini of Peabody in Peabody, MA or Turner Motorsport in Amesbury, MA.  Over the 8 years of owning this car I have kept it garaged and pampered.  The car has a few really small dents around the body from miscellaneous road pebbles, etc. and normal driving conditions (see photos).  The body and paint otherwise is in excellent shape and is hard waxed 2 times a year.  The last price I got from our local Dent Wizard to remove the dents was around 500 dollars which I factored in when pricing the car.  I will do my best to take pictures of each dent for those who cannot come see the car in person.  For those people who have serious interest in this car and are not local, I can video gchat (on my phone) with you if you would like a full real-time tour of the car in order to show you as much as possible.  I also have the title in hand for those people who would need to register it and drive it home out of state (i.e. no waiting).  I am also including numerous extras, as noted above, which are included in the list price.

Please note: If you want a used Mini Cooper S (as opposed to a JCW GP) you probably should just buy a used Mini Cooper S, which you could pick up for 10k-15k anywhere.  If you want a car that you rarely, if ever, see on the road and when you do, you pull over to meet the person (jump high five included), make note of the number on the roof, talk about how much you love the car, and what you have done to it, you probably are looking for a GP.  Are you looking for the fastest production Mini ever made (pre 2013, new model might be a few clicks more)? Are you looking for the most bad-a$$ production Cooper ever made? If yes, then I would recommend the GP.  I would also recommend reading the background about this car before jumping into emailing me questions.  For instance, this car has no back seats, nor a rear windshield wiper...do your research, please.  Also take a look and inform yourself to what other GP's are selling for.  Do not compare a GP to any other John Cooper Works or S models. There are not many for sale out there, some are collector minded and some are low miles.  There are a lot of forums out there for GP owners too - sign up and ask some questions if you need to.  If you have any other specific questions please do not hesitate to ask, but please do not waste my or your time 'tire kicking' or nickel and dimming me.  This is a serious car for a serious and spirited driver who loves Mini and wants the coolest one made to date.  Thanks for reading and checking out this listing.

p.s. all modifications/upgrades to this car can be undone however I have taken tremendous care to conceal aftermarket items in order to preserve this special edition car, while still upgrading beyond some of the OEM Mini standard stuff.

Additional Photos:  Let me know and I can send you a link (the ebay gods do not allow it in the listing) There are a lot more photos and most have comments and descriptions.  Leave me a comment if you have any questions.

Mini locks out the podium at Dakar Rally

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

Motor racing is often overcome by dominant forces. In Formula One these days, it's all about Red Bull. Le Mans is absolutely dominated by Audi. Citroën devastated the World Rally Championship for years. And the Dakar Rally is no exception to that particular rule, either.
The Mitsubishi Pajero won the event seven years in a row and many times before that. Then Volkswagen took the lead, winning three years running with competition-spec Touaregs once the rally shifted from North Africa to South America in 2009. But these days it's Mini that dominates.
The Mini All4 Racing team won in 2012, again in 2013 and has just won it again for 2014. Not only did it win again, but it took a devastating 1-2-3 finish to lock out the podium. Over the course of 13 days, Minis won 11 out of 13 of the total stages that make up the grueling rally, at the end of which Nasser Al-Attiyah crossed the line in third, Stéphane Peterhansel finished second, and just five minutes ahead of him, Nani Roma crossed the finish line in Valparaíso in first place. (Of course it didn't hurt that there were no fewer than 11 Minis entered in this year's rally, but still.)

Mini deletes center rail in Countryman, Paceman

Thu, 20 Jun 2013

When Mini first introduced the Countryman, it only came as a four-seater, with a center rail between the two seats that could house things like cup holders and could be slid back and forth. Buyers could even opt for a full-length center rail that ran from just aft of the gear shifter all the way back between the rear seats, like we did in our long-term 2011 Cooper S Countryman All4, shown above.
Shortly after the Countryman's launch, Mini was able to offer the vehicle with a proper rear bench seat; the company could not offer this at launch due to NHTSA guidelines that governed the minimum vehicle width for three-person seating, but those rules were changed. And now, we've received official confirmation of something we reported last year: the Countryman is losing its center rail and four-person seating arrangement altogether. Moving forward, buyers will only be able to spec a Countryman with the bench seat, and a cup holder will be affixed to the back of the forward cabin's center console.
The larger-but-smaller Paceman will also be losing the center rail between its rear seats, but the car will remain a four-seater, instead having a console between the two rear seats that houses a cup holder, an iPod cozy and a 12-volt outlet, according to USA Today.

Mini considering sports car replacement for Coupe and Roadster?

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

The next-generation Mini lineup could see some big changes, according to a report from Australian site CarSales. Starting with the debut of the third-generation Mini Hardtop at this year's Los Angeles Auto Show, we could see a regular string of Minis on the stages of the world. But the bodystyles we see might not be what we've grown used to.
A four-door sedan could eventually arrive, while the polarizing Mini Coupe and Roadster are likely to be replaced by a dedicated sports car with unique sheetmetal and uprated engines. While the rest of the line is switching to three-cylinder, turbocharged engines, the new sports car, which will be available in both soft- and hardtop variants, will use some version of BMW's 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder. The Aussie site also claims that the interior treatment could take inspiration from the Mini Vision concept car, while showing off the know-how BMW gained when working carbon fiber into the i3. The new model(s) would likely arrive in late 2015 or early 2016.
According to CarSales, we'll see the three-door Hardtop at the 2013 LA Show, along with a five-door hatch that is different from the Clubman at the 2014 Paris show. The Clubman, meanwhile, will arrive in Geneva in 2015, while the Convertible is slated for later that same year. The current Countryman and Paceman are expected to be around for some time, before being joined by an MPV. Eventually, the larger Minis will share their architecture with the BMW X1.
