Great rust free performance classic, 146,000 miles, incredibly good condition for a 20 year old car. Second adult owner, (sold to a family member and bought it back 19 months later) car was purchased in 1995 with 27,500 miles on odometer. Will provide a Mitsubishi Corporation service manual on CD and a stack of maintenance and repair receipts showing all that I have done to the car. Car is 100% stock with no modifications.
Mechanical Condition:
· Solid feel to doors closing and locking – no rattles or noises from body/suspension
· Engine starts and runs without stumble –consumes 1 quart of oil approx. every 3-4k miles
· In cold weather when first started and then sometimes continues, engine taps (thought to be lifters)
· Transmission shifts, overdrive works, brakes & steering function and all lights work
· Air conditioning and heater work well – all positions function
· Rust on brake rotors makes noise – likely to disappear after driving, the car stops well (relatively new pads)
Exterior:
· Straight body minor door ding on drivers side
· Clear coat is peeling in two places on passenger side, half dollar size paint peel on front bumper, several scratches on top and hood
· Tires are ok – different tread front and rear but are the same size with adequate tread
· Glass is good – no cracks
· Flip up headlights work
· Fog lamps – one is not working, wiring to harness is suspect (extra fog lamp housing included)
· Power mirrors work
Interior:
· Full leather interior is in good condition, stitching in driver’s seat cushion is coming apart
· Dash has edges turning up near vents on top – new replacement vent pieces provided
· Power windows – drivers side works but passenger side does not (switch or motor?)
· Stereo and CD player works well as does electric antenna on rear quarter panel
· Light in ac/heat/climate control does not function (can’t see where controls are set, but can tell by touch). Sometimes light comes on but usually goes off soon thereafter.
· Radio controls on steering wheel no longer work - replacement keypad needed.
· Rear window wiper switch on console does not work
Most recent repairs:
· 4/12 – 142k miles replaced engine computer
· 6/10 - 138k miles new AC condenser/receiver/dryer/seals – system converted to 134A & recharged
· 5/08 – 132 miles: Front struts replaced
· 9/06 – 113k miles: Replaced rack and pinion steering rack, tie rod ends & transmission flushed
· 12/05 -112k miles: Timing belt, water pump, tensioner & new lifters
Synthetic oil and filter changes made between 3k and 5k miles.

Mitsubishi Evo tagged with graffiti faster than you can say 'stop!'
Thu, 11 Jul 2013Ladies and gentlemen, meet Maggie Stiefvater, professional artist and musician, New York Times best-selling author and Mitsubishi Evo owner. Because, as she writes, "In my latest novel, The Dream Thieves, a character drives a car that looks just like mine. Only there's a knife painted on the side of his," she decided to graffiti a knife on the side of hers.
And that's how you get the time-lapse video below of Stiefvater, a few aerosol cans and a lot of stencils enjoying a sunny day in the park.
The worst rally driver you've ever seen
Wed, 14 Aug 2013Fast cars and excellent driving skills might be the easy answers when asking how to succeed in rally racing, but after watching this video, a good teammate is obviously an important aspect of this sport, too. During the 2013 Rally of Coimbatore in India, driver Samir Thapar and his co-driver, Vivek Ponnusamy, didn't seem to be on the same page as the two attempted to navigate the course in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
We'd probably hear drastically different stories if we talked to Thapar and Ponnusamy about this particular event, but you know things are bad when "stay on road" and "turn the wheel" are commands given by the co-driver (and yes, that's a man running for his life in the screen shot shown above). As it turned out, though, it seems like the Ponnusamy was justified in his concerns to take care of the racecar. Race results show that despite winning three of the seven stages, this team ultimately ended the race with a DNF.
Scroll down to watch the video, and even though it's been edited down from almost 40 minutes to less than four, we get the idea that it wasn't a pleasant experience for driver or co-driver.
Mitsubishi confirms pair of MiEV Evolution II electric racecars for Pikes Peak
Fri, 17 May 2013Preparing for next month's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, Mitsubishi - the presenting sponsor of this year's PPIHC - has unveiled its entrant for the race: the all-electric MiEV Evolution II. Building off last year's MiEV-inspired entrant, the Evolution II has received numerous improvements, including a more powerful electric drive system, a lower center of gravity and even a more traditional racecar look. Driving a pair of MiEV Evolution II models this year will be Hiroshi Masuoka from Mitsubishi vehicle development and six-time PPIHC motorcycle winner, Greg Tracy.
Both MiEV Evolution II racers employ a quartet of electric motors (last year's car used just three), and output has been increased from 280 kilowatts (375 horsepower) up to 400 KW (536 hp). For improved handling, the cars' lithium-ion battery packs help provide lower centers of gravity, and both Masuoka's and Tracy's cars have received active yaw control, stability control and redesigned anti-lock braking systems. Hopefully, this will help them stick to the mountain better. As previously mentioned, even their look has changed, with less of a wide-body i-MiEV feel and more of a racecar appearance. We think the finished product would actually make for a pretty cool Le Mans Prototype racer, or perhaps an electrically powered rival for trackday cars like those from Radical.
