I AM FINALLY SELLING MY RARE AND ORIGINAL 1999 3000GT VR-4. IT IS A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THESE TRULY TIMELESS CARS. THE VR-4 IS A TWIN TURBO CHARGED 320HP AWD AND AWS BEAST. THERE ARE FEW CARS ON THE ROAD THAT HANDLE LIKE THIS. LESS THAN 300 OF THESE CARS WERE EVER PRODUCED, AND IN MY OPINION RED ON BLACK IS THE BEST COLOR COMBO OUT THERE. SUPER LOW MILES FOR THE YEAR AS WELL. SHE HAS BEEN GARAGED KEPT SINCE I OWNED HER. I HAVE JUST RECENTLY PUT BILSTIEN SHOCKS ALL AROUND THE CAR, PAIRED WITH H&R SPRINGS. THE WHEELS ARE FOOSE WHEELS AND THE TIRES ARE BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE760 SPORTS. THEY ARE TRULY GREAT TIRES, BASICALLY NEW. THE PAINT IS IMMACULATE, AND SO IS THE INTERIOR. EVEN THE LEATHER SEATS ARE NOT WORN ON THE BOLSTERS. I ALSO REPLACED THE ANTENNA WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, IT WAS NOT FUNCTIONING, NOW IT WORKS PERFECTLY. THE CAR RUNS LIKE A TOP. Mitsubishi boss says US operations may break even next year
Sat, 23 Nov 2013Mitsubishi has lost money in its North America operations every year since 2007, but in an interview at this week's Tokyo Motor Show, company president Osamu Masuko said, "If things keep going well, it might be the case that we break even this year," Automotive News reports.
A little context: Last month Mitsubishi predicted that it would lower its operating loss in the region to 4-billion yen ($40.7 million) by March 31, the end of the fiscal year, well below the previous fiscal year's operating loss of more than five times that amount. Reflecting that, production at the Japanese automaker's sole North American factory in Normal, Illinois, has grown to 56,630 vehicles through October, compared to 27,339 through the same period last year.
The plant makes the Outlander Sport for the US and for export to markets such as Russia, the Middle East and Latin America. Interestingly, out of the 56,630 Outlander Sports built at the Illinois plant through October, only 20,150 were sold in the US.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution's curtain call will come with more power
Thu, 28 Aug 2014We love the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, but by this point, we've accepted the fact that the its days are numbered, despite the noticeable back and forth that accompanied rumors of the vehicle's future for so many months and years. And while the Evo's coming death in 2015 is pretty sad, a report from Automotive News claims that the road-going rally machine will at least be leaving with a fairly substantial bang.
According to AN, Mitsubishi will send off the Evo with a Special Action Model. Limited to between 2,000 to 2,500 units and destined exclusively for the United States, the Evo X SAM should boast, most notably, a bump in power for its 291-pony, 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder. There should be a few other performance tweaks to accompany the increased output, although it's unclear what those might be. AN claims the limited-edition model will drop during the last six months of Evo production, some time next year.
AN's report was confirmed to us by Mitsubishi spokesman Alex Fedorak, who said that, yes, there will be "a US special edition in 2015." We've asked for additional information, but all we've heard back, so far, is that mum's the word. Here's hoping we won't be waiting too long to get official details.

Wed, 09 Jul 2014Take a listen folks - you're hearing the eventual future of motorsports. This is Greg Tracy and the Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution III as they assault the treacherous course at Pikes Peak in just 9:08.188.
This run is significant for a number of reasons. As we recapped in our Pikes Peak finale post, Tracy's run was a mere two seconds off the best overall time at this year's event, snagging him and Mitsubishi second place overall, as well as first in the Electric Modified class and the fourth fastest time ever recorded. Perhaps more importantly, though, Tracy thoroughly trounced the previous EV record at Pikes Peak, beating the legendary Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima's 2013 best of 9:46.530.
