1979 Nissan 280zx Chevy Chevrolet 350 Conversion No Reserve on 2040-cars

Henderson, Nevada, United States

Up for auction is a 1979 Nissan 280ZX with a 350 Chevy conversion and ground effects package.  My brother bought this car in Virginia (with my money!!) as a cool project, and did a lot of work on it until loosing his garage.  I brought the car here to Las Vegas where it is currently located, but I just have too many other projects, and do not have the time or resources to complete this Z.  As stated above, the car has a clear Virginia title, and is registered (with a Virginia tag), insured, and occasionally driven.  The 350 conversion was complete when my brother bought the car, and appears to have been professionally well done.  The car really pulls strong.  The motor has camelback double hump heads, a 2-row 1 1/4 inch aluminum radiator with electric fan, transmission cooler, crane roller rockers, electric fuel pump, Holly single pump dual feed 3310 750cfm carb, GM HEI distributor, chrome alternator and bracket and water pump pully, polished aluminum 350Z valve covers, Edelbrock performer intake, and headers with glass packs.  The car also has 4 wheel disc brakes, and Hankook Ventos V4ES tires that look to be almost new, a B&M Star shifter, Panasonic stereo, and a newly professionally re-covered dash with all new Autometer gauges (the gauges alone were over $1000).  The car fires right up, runs, drives and stops as it should.  I would rate the paint as a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10, but it hasn't been color sanded or buffed, and I think that would get it up to a 7 or 8.  The seats, door panels, and headliner are in good shape, and the carpet looks to be fairly recent.  The interior is missing some plastic pieces, but I think that the parts that I have taken a separate picture of will cover most of what is needed.  There is no heater or A/C.  The underside of the car shows some rust, and the frame rails have the typical ZX rot and need work.  I just noticed that the rear tail lights and turn signals do not work, but I will try to fix these if I have a few minutes, since they were working a couple of months ago.  As mentioned, the Autometer gauges are all new, and work properly except for the fuel gauge and the speedometer.  I think there is a sender issue with the fuel gauge, and I do not know why the speedo doesn't work since everything appears to be proper.  I listed the mileage as zero because the odometer did not work when my brother bought the car, and the actual mileage is unknown.  The new Autometer odometer currently reads zero.  There is no spare tire.  My cell phone number is 770-330-8539 (Jerry) if you have any questions.  There is no reserve after the low opening bid (the gauges and dash are worth the opening bid), which means this Z is gonna sell.  A $250 deposit is required within 24 hours after the auction end, and payment in full with car pickup is required within 7 days of the auction end.  Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.

Nissan working on bringing bizarro BladeGlider to dealerships?

Thu, 09 Jan 2014

It's a rare thing for pie-in-the-sky concepts to make production relatively unmolested. Edges are usually softened, mirrors made bigger and wheels shrunken into something that will be less backbreaking and easier to see out of on public roads. And while the essence of many concepts can still find their way into production, the wackier parts found in their concept forms often end up as nothing more than flights of fancy.
That makes news of the strange Nissan BladeGlider being considered for production rather interesting. You'll recall that the BladeGlider Concept debuted in November at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, featuring a McLaren-esque three-seat V layout, an electric drivetrain and a narrow front track like the DeltaWing and ZEOD RC. Understandably, perhaps, Nissan has been touting it as "reinventing the performance car." Everything about it screamed "concept."
Now comes word from Car in the UK that the car may actually make it to production. Quoting Nissan vice president Andy Palmer, "It's in our mid-term plan." "Our intention is to do it," he says. Now, Palmer has plenty of sway, but this should hardly be taken as an absolute confirmation that the triangle-shaped car would be coming. It is, however, a very promising sign. Palmer evidently sees the BladeGlider as a way to cajole young people into becoming car enthusiasts, which suggests Nissan might try to make it inexpensive. Alternatively, the BladeGlider could form the basis of a small-volume racecar, but it isn't clear what racing organization would have it.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs

Sun, 01 Dec 2013

The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.

Nissan looking to expand UK plant to build Infiniti Q30

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

With the Infiniti Q30 concept heading to the Frankfurt Motor Show next month and a future premium compact model heading into production at Nissan's Sunderland UK assembly plant, just connecting the dots tells us this new small Infiniti is headed for UK production. Backing this up, Reuters is reporting that Nissan is looking to expand the Sunderland plant by 25,000 square feet, while Automotive News Europe takes it a step further by almost confirming that the Q30 will be built alongside the Nissan Qashqai and Note.
The reports say that Sunderland is already the UK's biggest automotive plant, but the expansion will make it even larger with production capacity expected to rise from the current 500,000 units built each year to more than 550,000. There is no indication if the expansion will bring more jobs to the plant, which already employs around 6,000 people.
