Aftermarket front and rear bumpers were fitted and the body was refinished in black, TEIN Flex coilover suspension was added along with a 14" Rotora big-brake kit and 19" Advan Racing wheels,and the 3.0-liter V6 was modified with a Z1 Motorsports Stage 2 short block, JWT camshafts and valve springs, and a Z1 Motorsports ‘550turbo kit, intercooler, downpipes, and dual intake system. Additional modifications include Japanese-market lighting, a STILLEN exhaust system, an Electronic Damping Force Controller, a Blitz boost controller, a Kenwood touchscreen stereo, NISMO fuel injectors, and an HKS Power valve and turbo timer. Nissan recalling 841k vehicles overseas for steering wheel trouble
Sat, 25 May 2013A possible issue with a steering wheel bolt in the Nissan Micra (shown) and Cube from the 2002 to 2006 model years has Nissan recalling roughly 841,000 units on four continents, as well as Oceania and the Middle East. On the affected cars, the bolt may not have been tightened properly, which could lead to a loss of steering in a worst-case scenario. According to Reuters, there haven't been any reports of accidents or injuries due to the fault, however.
The Micras affected were built in the UK and Japan, the Cubes in Japan. Nissan has yet to say when the recall will begin, but when it does, owners can take their cars to dealers for repairs; the bolt with either be tightened or, if necessary, a new steering wheel installed.
Nissan Quest under investigation for inaccurate fuel gauges
Fri, 16 May 2014After receiving 12 complaints in the last 14 months, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has begun a preliminary investigation into a fuel gauge issue with the 2007 Nissan Quest. Drivers have reported that the fuel level gauge will show there's gas in the tank when there actually isn't - in two cases, the digital distance-to-empty gauge indicated more than 70 miles of remaining range - and it will stall out.
This is the second time the 2007-model-year Quest has been involved in the same fuel gauge issue. In 2010 Nissan recalled seven models, including the Quest, from the 2005-2008 model years because of faulty fuel readings. The 12 vehicles in this latest complaint could have slipped through the cracks then, but we'll find out more when NHTSA updates its progress with the investigation into the estimated 37,656 units.
Nissan Pathfinder, Infiniti JX in transmission safety probe
Thu, 05 Sep 2013Nissan may be forced to recall 110,000 Pathfinder and Infiniti JX35 crossovers, due to a number of customer complaints. Consumers report suddenly losing power, with repair facilities blaming the issue on faulty transmission cooler line connections. Both the Pathfinder and JX35 use a continuously variable transmission. As of right now, the only vehicles being investigated are from model year 2013.
Nissan has been cooperating with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to a report from Reuters, and it has developed a fix for the affected vehicles. It's not clear whether this will develop into a full-blown recall, as there have been no known cases of injuries or crashes. But with a potential 110,000 vehicles prone to sudden power loss, a recall seems to be a likely outcome.
