This 350Z is in excellent condition inside and out and needs nothing. It offers both exceptional high performance and luxury.

HIGH PERFORMANCE:
The 350Z Enthusiast edition was modified by Stillen Motorsports (see stillen.com) for much higher performance with Stillen supercharger ($5000 + ~12 hour labor or ~$1000) and stainless steel exhaust (~$1200).  Result is about 400 HP and acceleration that can hypnotize the uninitiated. Around 400 HP in a car weighing about 3300 pounds--you can do the math. Because the engine has so much grunt, it is usually loafing in ordinary traffic and thus MPG benefits. You will likely see (depending of course on your driving style and normal commute) about 22 to 24 MPG combined. I have been getting a steady 22.5 MPG in a mixed city/highway cycle. I typically position the car in front of any other traffic (easily done!)--you are safer travelling "alone" rather than in a pack of vehicles, with other vehicles close by. I usually cruise 73 to 75 on expressways. The car drives out very smoothly and the exhaust note is a pleasing soft baritone, not raucous. There is some supercharger whine through the gears but (to my ear) not offensive. The car may look beautiful or "bad-ass", depending on your point of view, but it drives out gentlemanly--unless you stomp it.
Check out those TSW wheels--up 2 sizes from stock, 19", about $2000. The tires are Continental Extreme Contact ultra high performance all-season tires new last summer, only about 3000 miles on them. Fronts are 245/35/ZR19 and rears are 275/35/ZR19. Not only are these top-tier from a strictly grip standpoint, they are probably the quietest ultra-high performance tire made. This is important with any 35-series profile W-I-D-E tire to prevent a pounding, howling ride. It is remarkable that the ride is so supple and quiet--you will feel like Roger Federer in this car. I am the second owner of this car and have been unable to verify it, but I believe the car is somewhat lowered from stock. The handling is as amazing as the acceleration--unless you are race-trained, you will run out of nerve before the car runs out of grip. I have previously owned many high-performance cars, including Mitzu Evo MR and Honda S2000, and have slid those cars through sweeping turns but not this Z.
The drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic brake pads were also new last summer.
The hood is Stillen's full carbon fiber light-weight hood with the necessary bulge to clear the supercharger (~$1000). Although the car 's paint is glossy and dent-free, there are fine swirl marks and faint scratches typical of any car with similar miles. However, I had the hood painted last fall ($300) and its finish is still  flawless. The previous owner had installed 3M protective transparent film on the hood, front bumper, front fender fronts and mirror caps and the film is still there except for the hood, removed for painting. The film at the front bumper has many tiny "pinpricks" from road debris but, if the hood film serves as example, the finish will be perfect underneath.
LUXURY
The butterscotch leather (some would call them "natural" or "orange" or "saddle" leather) seats are in excellent near-new condition. The driver's seat is powered and both seats are heated.
The factory option Bose stereo, good as it was, was not good enough. None of the original speakers remain, all have been upgraded to high-end Infinity units last summer, except the sub-woofer. The sub-woofer is now a Boston Acoustics sub specially made for the 350Z (~$1100) with the "Z" logo de-bossed in the fitted carpeted transom which fits under the Z's chassis stiffener hoop in the hatch area (see photos). The sub has 2-10" woofers in an acoustically-loaded enclosure driven by an outboard amp installed in one of the 3 storage bins behind the seats (see pictures). Another amp, for the rear channel, is in the space where the Bose 8" woofer had been. The Dual head unit, also new last summer, drives the front channels and offers High Definition radio, USB port, and iPod/aux port. Ipod cable and a remote control are included with the car. This system plays VERY loud if you want and will cleanly reproduce a true 32HZ tone, not just a bumped-up 40 to 60 HZ tone typical of most so-called woofers.
The head unit also has Bluetooth and mic, so you can pair your cell phone and use the car's speakers to take calls hands-free (the music will self-mute for phone reception).
Not included with the car but included in the pictures as illustration of how it can be conveniently installed is a 5" Tom Tom GPS, which just fits in the front dash bin, looking very much as if it had been a factory setup. This use of the front bin both shades the screen from sun and allows the GPS screen to be tilted toward the driver, better than the typical flat-mounted factory GPS, necessarily angled somewhat away from the driver.
The headlights are true HID, not just a "blue":bulb.
Automatic climate control/heated seats/universal garage door remote/PW/PDL/CC/remote key fob/350Z manuals and zippered case.

2014 Nissan Rogue

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

The compact crossover segment is crowded because it offers near-perfect transportation for small families and empty nesters alike. As more and more consumers discover the benefits of compact crossovers - riding tall in traffic, enjoying four-cylinder fuel economy and the confidence of all-weather traction - automakers are jumping into the game to meet the increasing demand. Today's choices, in no particular order, include the Honda CR-V, Jeep Cherokee, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, Mini Countryman, Subaru Forester, Kia Sportage, Volkswagen Tiguan, Ford Escape, Mitsubishi Outlander, Toyota RAV4 and this Nissan Rogue. Nearly all start around $22,000 in base trim and work their way reasonably upwards with more appealing trim levels and options. If you spend much over $33,000 in this segment, you are a glutton for frosting.
The latest player from Nissan is its all-new second-generation Rogue, introduced late last year as a 2014 model. After a brief First Drive in October, we recently welcomed back the Rogue for a week-long review. The plan was to embed the compact crossover into a family routine during the holidays, where it would receive a hearty workout hauling everything from five adult passengers and their shopping bags to trays loaded with warm honey-glazed hams and pecan pies for a dinner party. The compact CUV handled all with poise, but everything wasn't as sweet as its edible cargo.

2015 Nissan Murano is the Sport Sedan Concept of crossovers [w/video]

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

The edgy new Nissan Murano has just been officially unveiled at today's New York Auto Show following its online debut earlier this week. Wearing sheetmetal clearly inspired by the Japanese brand's creatively named Sport Sedan Concept, the third-generation Murano continues the tradition of offering dramatic styling and surprisingly premium interiors.
With headlights and a grille that look lifted from the Detroit Auto Show concept, the Murano arguably has more design presence than it's ever had before, thanks to its sharply styled headlights and in-your-face grille. The profile is highlighted by an aggressive kink in the beltline behind the C-pillar, while the rear of the crossover sports a smallish rear window and strongly styled C-shaped taillights.
The redesigned interior isn't quite as dramatic a departure as the exterior, with a layout reminiscent of the larger Pathfinder. The material quality, though, looks to be significantly improved for 2015. There are also no shortage of optional, upmarket interior items, like heated and cooled front seats, a heated rear bench and an upsized panoramic sunroof.

Nissan recalling 13k Versa Note hatchbacks

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

Nissan is recalling 13,000 of its new 2014 Versa Note hatchbacks due to an issue with various bolts used to assemble the vehicle. Considering the Versa Note was only recently put on sale, this news must be driving Nissan nuts (we couldn't resist), but presumably the lion's share of these vehicles are still at dealerships.
According to a report from The Detroit News, there are two separate issues. The first has to do with the latches for the rear seats, which include bolts that may not be strong enough to keep the seats upright in the event of a crash. The second relates to the bolts that attach the body to the undercarriage. Apparently they may not have been tightened properly, and in rare cases may be missing altogether. No injuries or accidents have been reported from either issue.
Owners are being told to report to dealers for the fixes, with notifications coming in mid-August.
