With a handmade Twin Turbo V6 producing an earth-shaking 545hp, its easy to overlook everything else GT-R has to offerwhich is a lot. For 2015, that includes a new recalibrated suspension that reduces load fluctuation between the four wheels, and keeps your wheels tight on the road for a smoother, more sophisticated ride. With the spoiler creating downforce, vents behind the front fender cooling the brakes and creating more downforce, and scoops on the hood and grille everything is designed with performance in mind. Instead of the traditional 50/50 torque split between front and rear axles, the electronically controlled AWD system provides up to 100% of available torque to the rear wheels, and can send up to 50% of torque to the front wheels. The 3 Mode system is what makes GT-R so remarkably versatile, allowing you to adjust transmission, suspension, and VDC settings on the fly. Leather appointed front sport seats help keep you in place, while cutouts in the drivers seat cushion facilitate leg movement. Other trim levels include the Black Edition which features a handmade, dry carbon fiber spoiler and black/red leather Recaro performance seats. The Track Edition features a stiffer suspension with specialized Bilstein Damptronic gas pressure shocks and higher spring rates

Nissan Qashqai getting Juke-R treatment
Wed, 20 Mar 2013As long as there are sacred cows, there will be heretics sharpening their knives in anticipation of the butchering. When Nissan first carved into the mighty GT-R to create the Juke-R, onlookers quickly fell into two camps: those who thought the plan was sheer genius and those who believed cannibalizing a GT-R to feed a Juke was a new brand of obscenity. We fell firmly in the former camp. Now Severn Valley Motorsport is looking to take that theme one step further by shoving the go-faster bits from a GT-R into a Nissan Qashqai. That noise you hear? It's us cackling like mad men.
While we can't say for certain, we're guessing the project should yield the world's fastest Qashqai thanks in no small part to the twin-turbocharged VR38DETT V6 engine from the GT-R. Throw in the all-wheel-drive system and the little CUV should change demeanor dramatically. We can't wait to see this thing in action.
Nissan to build Golf-fighter in Spain
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Nissan hasn't had a proper European entry in the ridiculously popular compact hatchback segment since it stopped offering its somewhat staid and uninspiring Almera (above) in 2006. According to Automotive News Europe, the new machine, which will not be called Almera, will be marketed against the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus - two extremely popular models in Europe. Production is slated to begin in July of 2014.
The new compact will be built in Barcelona, Spain, at the factory that currently builds the Pathfinder, Navara pickup and NV200 commercial van. An investment of $178 million will be made to assemble the compact car, and an additional $27 million will go to the plant to create more trucks and transmissions for electric vehicles.
The decision to invest in Spain comes after the automaker successfully renegotiated contracts with local unions. Similar talks are underway in France, where Nissan partner Renault is based, but as of yet no new agreements have been struck. Feel free to browse through the official press release below.
Renault's planned luxury sub-brand gets reconsidered
Fri, 29 Mar 2013Renault believes there's enough Alpine love to restart that brand with its own model almost immediately. The launch of the Initiale Paris luxury brand it's been mulling, on the other hand, will be more restrained: a report in Autocar says that instead of launching with a first model based on the Mercedes E-Class architecture, Renault is going to introduce an Initiale Paris trim line on the new Clio and Espace. More accurately, that should be 're-introduce and aggressively market,' since Renault has used an Initiale Paris trim over the years since it introduced the concept car (pictured) in 1995, even as recently as the current-generation Laguna Coupe.
Other models will be added after the Clio and Espace, and when Renault can assess what kind of future the trim has, it will decide on the launch of a subsidiary brand. Company CEO Carlos Tavares said we shouldn't hang around waiting for a decision, though, declaring that establishing such a brand - if it even comes to that - "will be a job for at least my successor to worry about, not me."
