Nissan introduced the current-generation Sentra in 2000 defining
it as an inexpensive sedan that broke the mold for economy cars by offering
sporty styling, numerous features and a fun-to-drive character. It may have
sounded like the usual marketing hype back then, but compared to its
competition at the time, it was in fact a more entertaining car to drive than
most of the lifeless cars in its category.
We have found our 2006 Nissan Sentra a solid, reliable sedan, adequately
quick, comfortable and economical to drive. There
are four Nissan Sentra models available – and the one we are offering here is
the 1.8S meaning it has the economical 1.8 liter four cylinder, 126 HP engine. There
is adequate power for daily commutes and errands and freeway cruising. I would
put it this way: The 1.8S is an economy car offering a combination of good
economy and satisfying performance. As I said, this Nissan is the “S” model
which scores you power windows, locks and mirrors; remote keyless entry; a
split-folding rear seat; cruise control; a trip computer; air conditioning; an
eight-way adjustable driver seat; and a CD stereo. The four-speed automatic
transmission was optional and found on this car. The brakes (front disc/rear
drum) are good and this model earned four stars for passenger protection from
NHTSA testing. We are selling the car because we bought our parents BMW X3—that’s the only reason. The Nissan served us well. We’ve taken good care of it and believe a new owner will be happy. We’ve set the reserve at approximately $1,000 below the Kelly Blue Book suggested retail value. The Nissan Sentra is located in our Minneapolis, Minnesota (zip code 55436) residential garage. Shipping arrangements and all shipping costs are the responsibility of the winning bidder. We will help with loading and in all other ways endeavor to be helpful. Please note: This car is sold AS-IS, no refunds or exchanges, please bid carefully! While the car appears to work as described and to be complete, no guarantees are made including of wording in the description, no refunds or exchanges--please bid accordingly. Shipping at buyers expense and to United States bidders only. No other bids will be honored. Seller takes no responsibility for items lost or stolen in transit. No shipment or shipping arrangements provided; arrangement of shipment and delivery are entirely the responsibility of the winning bidder. Nissan NV200 puts on a Bowtie as new Chevy City Express
Tue, 14 May 2013Your eyes do not deceive you - that is, in fact, a Nissan NV200 work van with Chevrolet badging. General Motors and Nissan today announced a partnership where the Japanese automaker will build Bowtie-badged vans for Chevy dealers to sell throughout the United States and Canada. The new van, called the City Express, is expected to go on sale in the fall of 2014.
"Our fleet customers have asked us for an entry in the commercial small van segment, so this addition to the Chevrolet portfolio will strengthen our position with fleets and our commercial customers," Ed Peper, US vice president of GM fleet and commercial sales, said in a press release.
No details have been released regarding specific changes for the new City Express, though from the images released today, it's clear that the vehicle's front fascia has been reworked, and some super-sexy new wheel covers have been added. If we're honest, the NV200 wasn't all that pretty to begin with, and this, well, isn't any better. Not that looks are of primary concern in the commercial truck business, of course.
Nissan details Craigslist 1996 Maxima restoration
Wed, 19 Nov 2014"Luxury Defined," in the most ironic sense the galaxy has ever known, is now "Luxury Restored," in the real and incredible sense. Last September, Luke Aker made ads to sell his 1996 Nissan Maxima GLE, the YouTube version being a mix truth, bombast, a British accent and a ratchet strap. The ad tickled Nissan such that it bought the car from Akes and made a donation to a charity of his choice. Then they consulted with the citizens of the Internet to decide what to do with it, the final vote being a complete restoration and display at the company's Nashville HQ.
Friends, Netizens, countrymen, the job is done. Nicknamed "Old Glory," comparing the old car with the new is like reading one of those shelter dog rescue stories where the loving family nurses an impossibly cute pup back to health with handheld nursing sessions, baby bottles of warm milk and whispered lullabies. Only Nissan probably didn't sing to the Maxima.
The Maxima is now on display, and we hope they've hung the ratchet strap with it. You can see Aker's new video on the transformation above, plus another video and press release below detailing the Maxima's journey back to New Glory.
Nissan settles with FTC over misleading dune buggy ad [w/videos]
Fri, 24 Jan 2014A couple years ago, Nissan created a series of commercials for its compact Frontier pickup showing the truck performing outlandish stunts such as snowboarding, saving a passenger airplane from a crash landing and climbing a steep sand dune to help a stranded dune buggy. As crazy as the first two commercials were, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) took issue with the latter, titled Hill Climb, with the agency considering it to be a misleading commercial since both vehicles required a cable to reach the top of the steep dune.
As such, Ad Age is reporting that Nissan - and its ad agency TBWA Worldwide - has settled with the FTC over the ad despite the fact that it features a disclaimer stating: "Fictionalization. Do not attempt." Nissan did not have to pay out any money in the settlement, but it is prohibited "from using potentially misleading demonstrations in future advertisements for pickups." In addition to the offending commercial, posted below, we've included some of the other related videos from the same Frontier campaign.
