I've owned a lot of collector cars, but this one gets the most attention of any I've ever had. However, my life has changed, and I only had the car out 3 times all of last year, so I'm going to pass it along to someone who will enjoy and drive it more.
I have an idea that the listed mileage is correct, and the gentleman I bought the car from 6 years ago and who had the re-paint done, believed the mileage was accurate. From the looks of the interior, if I were looking the car over with a view to buy it, I would judge that the mileage is accurate. However as most of you are aware, the odometers on these older vehicles did not show over 100k. I am not representing that this car only has 42k on it. Very nice, but not perfect, paint job that has held up well over the years. This car has not spent a single night outside, nor has it been driven in the rain a single time since I've owned it. I don't even know if the wipers work. There are a couple of tiny (1mm) bumps around the base of the drivers side c-pilllar where something was apparently painted over, and some poorly touched-up dings on the side edge of the hood. The door handles show some flaking. The lower edge of the windshield has some marks where it was hit by a sander or wire brush. I found one small (less than 1") rusty place in the passenger side floor board. All of these would be completely unnoticed by 99.9% of people looking at the car. The car runs and drives as well or better than most new cars on the road. It is an absolute joy to drive. The brakes are excellent. The transmission shifts perfectly. The tires are excellent. I would drive it anywhere with no hesitation. The exhaust has a sweet tone that is moderately loud outside, but quiet inside. Plenty of power, but does not require premium gas. No smoking or unusual noises, and no drips. BTW, the tachometer in the dash does not work, and I doubt that it's original to the car. Clear NC title in hand and in my name. Having said all that, please realize that this is not a 100 point, detailed show car. It is a driver. The price reflects that fact. As with any old vehicle there will be issues. Please be realistic in your expectations. Serious buyers are welcome to view the car in person or send a representative to do so. I am not going to jeopardize my 100% feedback rating by misrepresenting an item. If the buyer arrives and discovers a major mis-description (other than cosmetic issues) I will refund the buyers deposit no questions asked. Please ask any questions you wish. However, once a sale is completed, I consider the vehicle sold as-is, where-is, with no warranties or representations of any sort. A sale on eBay is just that....a sale. It is not the right to come and kick the tires or negotiate. Zero or very low-feedback bidders will be ignored unless you contact me first. A Verified PayPal deposit of $500.00 is due within 24 hours of a completed sale. "Verified" means that there is money in the account, not funded by a credit card. The balance is due within 7 days, and may be by cash, bank-to-bank transfer, verified PayPal plus the PayPal fee, or check. Any form of check will tie up the car for up to 14 days pending clearing. I can store the car inside for up to 30 days once final payment is made. I do have a good place here to load. |

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6
Wed, 11 Dec 2013Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant
Wed, 18 Jun 2014If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

Thu, 13 Nov 2014The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.
