I BELIEVE THE PAINT TO BE ORIGINAL.ONLY THE DRIVERS DOOR HAS BEEN REPAINTED AT ONE TIME MANY YEARS AGO.  THERE ARE VERY FEW MINOR RUST SPOTS ON THE CAR.  BOTH FRONT FENDERS HAVE SMALL BUBBLING, HARDLY NOTICEABLE BUT THERE, ON THE BOTTOM CORNERS. THE DOORS, ROCKERS, FLOORS ETC ARE PERFECT, ESPECIALLY FOR THEAGE.  THE SPARE TIRE WELL IS THE ONLY SPOT THAT I CAN SEE WHERE THERE IS SOME RUST AT THE BOTTOM.ALL FOUR DOORS SHUT EXCELLENT, SMOOTHLY AND WITHOUT ANY SAGGING. THE JAMBS, ROCKERS,DOOR PILLARS ARE EXC. AND RUST FREE.  I BELIEVE THE PAINT TO BE ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVERSDOOR. THERE ARE SEVERAL AREAS WHERE THE PAINT IS THIN AND SHOWING THROUGH, PROBABLY FROMTHE SUN.  THE BODY ON THIS WAGON IS AMAZING CONSIDERING THE YEAR. THIS VEHICLE, WITHOUT A DOUBT,HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT ALL IT'S LIFE. THE CHROME AND EXTERIOR TRIM ON THIS CAR ARE VERY NICE!

THE INTERIOR ON THIS CRUISER IS EVEN BETTER. I BELIEVE IT ALL TO BE ORIGINAL. THE SEATS, DOOR PANELS,DASH, GAUGES, CHROME, BEZELS, TRIM ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.  THE CARPET IS VERY VERY NICE ESPECIALLY FOR APPEARING TO BE ORIGINAL.  IT DOES SHOW MINOR WEAR BUT VERY NICE FOR BEING 48 YEARS OLD.  THE REAR POWER WINDOW WORKS WELL. THE WINDOWS WORK AS THEY SHOULD. THE HEADLINER HAS NO RIPS OR TEARSBUT DOES HAVE MINOR DISCOLORATION IN A FEW SPOTS, PROBABLY CLEANABLE. THE ORIGINAL AM RADIO WORKS, ALONG WITH THE FM BOOSTER LOCATED IN THE GLOVEBOX.  ALL TURN SIGNALS WORK. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WORKS.  ALL THE LIGHTS ALONG WITH THE WIPERS WORK EXCELLENT.  THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A FOLD DOWN REAR SEAT.  EVEN THE DOME LIGHT STILL WORKS!

THIS CAR RUNS, DRIVES, AND HANDLES LIKE A DREAM.  IT IS NOT ALL FULL OF RATTLES.  IT IS VERY TIGHTAND HANDLES WELL.  VERY QUIET RIDE INSIDE.  THE 330 ENGINE RUNS WELL, DOESNT SMOKE AND IS PEPPY.THE ENGINE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ALUMINUM INTAKE, HOLLEY CARB, HEI IGNITION AND TRUE DUAL EXHAUST.THIS CAR DEFINITELY HAS THE MUSCLE CAR SOUND!.  BRAKES AND STEERING WORK AS THEY SHOULD. E BRAKEWORKS.  TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FINE AND THERE ARE NO ISSUES.

THIS CAR IS A VERY NICE EXAMPLE OF A NICE ORIGNAL CAR WITH POSITIVE UPGADES. EVERYTHING YOU WOULD DO IS ALREADY DONE!  THIS CAR WAS OBVIOUSLY VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF OVER THE YEARS.JUST LOOK AT THE PICS OF THE INTERIOR AND THAT SHOULD SAY IT ALL!.  THERE WERE VERY FEW V8 WAGONS PRODUCED AND HOW MANY ARE STILL AROUND?  THIS IS A NICE CLASSIC AND IS READY TO BE ENJOYED.  IT IS NOT PERFECT BUT IN AMAZING CONDITION FOR THE YEAR. ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO ASK.  THIS CAR FIRES RIGHT UP EVERY TIME AND I WOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS ANYWHERE.  ***THE WHEELS AND TIRES  PICTURED ONTHE  CAR  ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE.  THE CAR COMES WITH FOUR CHROME MODULAR WHEELS WITH GOODTIRES!****

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

This Or That: 1980 Oldsmobile 442 vs. 1989 BMW 635CSi [w/poll]

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
