What your are bidding on is a 1972 Plymouth Barracuda that originally started out as a 318 motor (according to VIN), however now it has a very strong running Mopar 383 Motor.  I will do my best to describe this car inside and out.  Please feel free to contact me at anytime for further questions or follow up.  As most of you know there is new Barracuda coming out in 2014 and my plans for this car was to have it painted in plum crazy color and be able to show case it next year.  Unfortunately as plans go, mine have changed due to budget reasons.  With a little bit of time and a few dollars this car could be a great Cuda with lots of life still left.

First off the exterior is a red paint that is in ok condition.  The body lines are very straight on this car and it lines up very nicely.  It appears as though the previous owner may have had some limited aspirations of making this into a street/strip car.  The previous owner put on fiberglass doors, hood and fenders to make this car lighter.  The fiberglass is in pretty good shape and you could leave it as is or replace it with the original doors, which I do have.  The original doors I have are in really good shape with all the glass and locking mechanisms.  I do not have the fenders or hood.  The exterior of the car is very straight and the only two places I have found rust is a little bit behind the rear glass on the passenger side about the size of a quarter and a little bit on rear tail panel on the passenger side right above the rear brake light and again it is about the size of a quarter.  Underneath the car it is in good shape with no rust and I have put up pics detailing that.  The trunk and floor boards are in really good shape and strong.

The car runs, drives and brakes really well.  I have cruised it on the freeway at 70 mph and it handles like any other 40 year old car.  It does have power steering and disc brakes up front.  The Barracuda is very strong and really quick.  It has an automatic 727 Torque Flite Transmission with a slap stick shifter that shifts and all the gears work really well.  The rear end appears to be the original 8 3/4 rear end.  I have attached the picture of the trim tag, however I did not break the trim tag down.

The interior of the car is pretty solid as well.  The seats are in really good shape, front and rear.  There are no rips or tears.  The carpet is clean and shows very little wear.  The headliner is tight, however there are two small slits a few inches long that are not very visible.  The dash is in ok condition, however it does have cracks in it.  The headlights, brake lights, heater, speedometer, etc all work.  The car starts up on first try every time with very little effort.  The motor runs strong and can light up the tires in almost all the gears.

I do hold the title and it is clear and registered currently.  I also do reserve the right to end the auction at anytime.  Please feel free to contact me at 916-262-6971 via text or telephone call if you have any further questions or followup.  I have seen these cars go for high dollars and recently a 72 Barracuda with lots of rust and no motor or tranny sold for over 9K.  My reserve for this car is very low.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
