HERE IS A 1969 PLYMOUTH ROADRUNNER THAT I'M LISTING FOR MY BROTHER.  HE BOUGHT AND OWNED THE CAR SINCE 1979, AND HE PURCHASED IT FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER.  ORIGINALLY IT WAS TRIPLE BLACK, AIR GRABBER, MAGNUM 500 WHEELS, BENCH SEAT AUTO ON THE COLUMN.  AROUND 1980 THE ORIGINAL MOTOR WAS REBUILT STOCK, AND BLOCK WAS JUST HONED NOT BORED.  THE SAME MOTOR IS STILL IN THE CAR TODAY HOWEVER A LOT OF HI PERFS WERE ADDED IN THE LATE 80's, SUCH HIGH VOLUME OIL PUMP, 8 QUART MOROSO DEEP PAN, DOUBLE ROLLER TIMING CHAIN, PURPLE SHAFT 509 HYD CAM@LIFTERS@SPRINGS, THE ORIGINAL HEADS HAVE BEEN MILLED BUT STOCK PORTS REMAIN, DIRECT CONNECTION MECHANICAL ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTOR WITH THE ADAPTER FOR A 383 BLOCK, MSD 6A, ACCEL SUPER COIL, EDELBROCK INTAKE HOLLY CARB, HEADMAN HEADERS, 2-1/4 EXHAUST TO THE BACK, NEW YORKER RADIATOR WHICH LEAKS NOW FROM SITTING, BLUE HOLLY PUMP 1/2 INCH LINE.

TRANS WAS REBUILT AROUND 1981 STREET STRIP KIT, HOWEVER THE SHOP PROBABLY SWITCHED OUT THE ORIGINAL TRANS FOR ONE ALREADY BUILT, I NEVER BOTHERED TO CHECK THE NUMBERS.  IN THE LATE 80's ADDITIONAL WORK WAS DONE TO THE TRANS SUCH AS NEW BANDS, FAIRBANKS 10" CONVERTOR AND STALLS AROUND 3400, AND FAIRBANKS REVERSE MANUAL VALVE BODY, DEEP PAN WITH DRAIN PLUG AND THE SHIFTER IS A WINTERS.  ITS POSSIBLE IT MAY STILL BE THE ORIGINAL TRANS, DON'T KNOW, I GUESS THE SERIAL # WOULD TELL.

REAREND WAS CHANGED FROM THE ORIGINAL 8-3/4 323 POSI TO A 1969 DANA 60 WITH 354 GEARS FROM A PARTS CAR GTX IN THE MID 80's.  THE ORIGINAL REAR TO THE ROADRUNNER WAS SOLD A LONG TIME AGO.

THE BODY WILL REQUIRE A LOT OF WORK SUCH AS NEW REAR QUARTER PANELS, FLOORS AND TRUNK FLOOR, ROOF SKIN, RIGHT DOOR, HOOD, AND IS MISSING ALL GLASS TRIM.  THE REASON FOR TRUNK FLOOR REPLACING IS BECAUSE OF HOME MADE FUEL CELL THAT HOLDS AROUND 8 GALLONS, NOT DUE TO RUST.  THE INT. FLOOR SHEET METAL NEED REPLACING BECAUSE OF ROLLCAGE, AFTER MARKET RACING SEATS, PLUS OTHER CAR BUCKETS SEATS THRU THE YEARS.  THE ROOF SKIN WILL NEED REPLACING DUE TO A TREE BRANCH FELL ON IT, INNER ROOF STRUCTURE LOOKS FINE, JUST OUTER SKIN.  THE TREE BRANCH ALSO DENTED THE PASSENGER DOOR AND DENTED UP THE HOOD, WHICH IS THE ORIGINAL HOOD BUT NO LONGER HAVE THE AIR GRABBER UNIT, OR LOUVERS.  THE ORIGINAL WHEELS AND AIR GRABBER STUFF WERE ALL SOLD OFF LONG AGO.  CLEAR MARYLAND TITLE AND ALL ORIGINAL BODY TAGS INPLACE SUCH AS VIN AND FENDER

THE INTERIOR CONSISTS OF TWO RACING FIBERGLASS SEATS,TWO SHOULDER HARNESSES THAT ARE OUT OF DATE,  6 POINT ROLL CAGE, MONSTER TACH AND A LOT OF GAUGES, SOME DON'T WORK NO MORE.  THE ORIGINAL INSTRUMENT PANEL IS THERE BUT DOES NOT WORK, NO RADIO, NO HEATER, NO WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR BUT I BELIEVE WS WIPER ARMS ARE STILL THERE.  THE STEERING COLUMN IS OUT OF A 1969 GTX 4 SPEED CAR, AFTER MARKET STEERING WHEEL.  I NO LONGER HAVE THE ORIGINAL BENCH SEAT OR BACK SEAT HOWEVER IN THE EXTRA PARTS THAT GO WITH THE CAR IS A 1968 BENCH SEAT WITH SOME SEAT BELTS AND NEEDS TO BE REDONE.  THE ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL COMES WITH THE CAR AND IS IN THE PARTS PICTURE.  THE CAR HAS NO HEAD LINER.  TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK AND HAS A 1968 WIRING HARNESS NOT THE ORIGINAL ONE.

SUSPENSION CONSISTS ALL STOCK UP FRONT AND NEEDS TO BE REDONE, SWAY BAR IS LONG GONE, HAS ENGINE PLATE, FRAME CONNECTORS, 6 POINT ROLL CAGE, PINION SNUBBER, DRIVE SHAFT LOOP, TRUCK MOUNTED BATTERY, STOCK LEAF SPRINGS IN THE REAR BUT SUPER STOCK SPRINGS COME WITH THE EXTRA PARTS INCLUDED.  THE CAR WAS GARAGED FROM 1991 TO 2007 HAS BEEN OUTSIDE SINCE AND TAGGED SINCE ABOUT 2007 WITH HISTORIC PLATES.  THE WHEELS ARE 3-1/2 CENTERLINES AND THE REAR ARE FACTORY CUSTOM MADE 8" RIMS WITH M&H STREET CHEATER SLICKS WHICH THE SIDES ARE NOW DRY ROTTED, FRONT ARE PROTRAC.  THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AND NOT DRIVEN EXCEPT FOR STARTING IT UP AND MOVING IT EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE

THE MOTOR WILL START UP AND SOUNDS VERY STRONG, THE RACING CARB ON IT NOW GIVES PROBLEMS SO GAS MAY BE NEEDED TO POUR IN CARB ALONG WITH A STRONG BATTERY.  I HAD THIS CAR FOR A LONG TIME, AND NOW ITS TIME TO SELL, DON'T WANT IT TO KEEP SITTING OUTSIDE.

PAYMENT,  A 500.00 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT IS DUE RIGHT AFTER BUY IT NOW OPTION, THE REMAINING BALANCE IS DUE IN FULL WITHIN 5 BUSINESS DAYS EXCLUDING WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS, AND PAID THRU POST OFFICE MO, or IN CASH.

CONTACT FOR MORE INFORMATION, AGAIN I'M LISTING THIS FOR MY BROTHER AND ANY QUESTIONS WILL HAVE TO BE ANSWERED FROM HIM AND HIS CELL PHONE # IS 240-501-7781 JOHN.  I HAVE SOME ADDITIONAL PICTURES AVAILABLE THAT I CAN SEND IF YOU SEND ME YOUR EMAIL.  THE EASIEST WAY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH JOHN IS BY PHONE

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
