For sale I have my wifes 1997 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI Supercharged, with 3.8 Liter (3800 Series), V6 engine and automatic transmission. This car runs good and has roughly 144,000 miles on the car, give or take some miles. The car still is driven a few times per week, so mileage is not exact. This car is PA inspected, has nice alloy wheels, nice tires, factory dual exhaust, spoiler, paint is in super shape, body is solid, no paint fade, no paint peel, no rust. The exterior on this car is as close to mint as you can get for a 1997 car. Its not 100% flawless but its pretty darn close. The interior is very nice, has leather, and is loaded with basically every single option you can have, also has the heads up display on the dash. Has power seats, door locks, windows, air conditioning, power sunroof,  shift options for the tranny, so forth. The leather is good, the drivers seat has some cracking on the bottom and some wear but thats about it. The car runs great, has a newer battery, fresh oil change, the a/c compressor is noisey but the a/c does work good. Our mechanic says the compressor will eventually need replaced but it does make some noise. The transmission is a bit sketchy, the fluid is dirty and I'm assuming the filter probably would need changed too, it shifts erratic sometimes or shifts late and hard at times, sometimes seems to slip a bit. It could just need flushed or the fluid and filter changed, or a band adjustment, maybe a rebuild. I'm not a transmission guru so I don't know exactly what it needs to work right. It does get driven locally here or there but thats about it  now. Anyone buying this car, I would recommend trailering the car on a trailer or towing it if you plan on going any real distance. If you buy the car and decide to drive it away, do so at your own risk. I can't make any mileage guarantee on how far the car would go without giving you transmission issues, it may go 10 miles, it may go 50, I don't know for sure. I can say it has been reliable other than the transmission issue now, it was my wifes car and I can say it was never abused or beaten while we've had it. I replaced the steering column in the car due to the fact that we lost the keys last summer and the local dealer couldn't make a match for it. Due to this, we can't lock the doors or open the trunk, so you would need to have door and trunk key made. My wife has battled cancer for 3 years and racing and abusing cars is not her thing. We have 4 cars and can't afford to put all kinds of money into this one, otherwise, we could keep it. Its probably one of the nicest cars we have ever had as far as used cars. This car is sold as is, where is, you are responsible to pick the car up here. There are no warranties on this car, and I do recommend the car be towed but its your call. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit on the car, and the car must be picked up and paid for in full within 7 days of auction ending. I accept paypal and cash. Ask any questions and do your research before buying. Thank you for looking!

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.

GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.
