Up for auction with no reserve is a super rare 1956 Pontiac 870 Catalina Two Door Hardtop. This classic from another era is stunning inside and out and simply gorgeous underneath. Under her hood is her factory Pontiac 316 V8 Motor with her Four Barrel Rochester carburetor and dual exhaust out the back that sounds throaty. This model came equipped with the ultra rare Dual Range Hydro Automatic Transmission and is a priceless option. This Pontiac is a C code California hardtop and her metal is very dry and clean with no rust in her trunk and the bottom is rather nice. Under the hood things look right and well done. Stock wheels with a brand new set of whitewalls all around. Rear fender skirts make the back look stealth. Side portholes for the back nautical like fins show off more art deco that simply builds up on this stylish classic. The exterior paint is Vista Blue with Chesapeake Blue in a ravishing two tone color combination. Her glass is very nice all around including trim and bright work. Her upholstery is very clean with light gray and blue seats with a gorgeous two tone dash as well. Beautiful instrument cluster that looks like a work of art. She is not a show car and flaws do exist but are modest. Her front bumper is slightly off and shows some minimal patina but nothing dramatic. The paint is nice but has a few typical scratches and minor spots but nothing major. One or two door dings throughout and her headliner has a few spots also showing minor wear. Plenty of books and manuals plus rare factory literature that are included with the sale. Not many like this so bid with confidence and if you need additional information or have any questions simply call, text or write.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial
Sat, 16 Mar 2013
The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
