Super nice and original 1988 Pontiac Fiero 2-door Sport Coupe for sale; third owner; asking $7,500 or Best Reasonable Offer; Require $500 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of auction close; balance of sale due within 7 days of acution close; pick-up and transportation of vehicle buyer's responsiblity; must be picked-up by last week of June 2014; car is located in Morrisville, Vermont 05661 which is near Stowe, Vermont. This is a very nice, original and unmolested Pontiac Fiero; I purchased the car from the second owner, who acquired the car in 1994; in 1998 it was placed into storage for the next 14 years in a heated and cooled, cement floor garage; car has no rust; body and interior is in excellent condition, and even the seat belt guides are not broken (rare); dash and controls are immaculate and fully fnctional. I went through all the systems on the car and replaced all the computer controls (PCM), entire ignition system including crankshaft position sensor, ignition module, coils; wires, spark plugs; battery; heavy duty starter motor; ignition switch; fuel tank; fuel pump, fuel filter; throttle body injector; idle air control valve; MAP Sensor; EGR Valve; serviced the EVP System; radiator; new water pump; thermostat; clutch; slave cylinders; brakes; serviced the headlight motors; etc. All the weather seals on the car are in excellent original condition (rare); the moonroof is immaculate and does not leak; have the optional headliner with cargo cover for the moonroof. There are a few minor defects: some blemishes in the exterior finish, but it is all factory original and very minor; a small tear in driver's seat that was repaired; and a small check spot on the rear center console and pasenger door, but very minor for a 26 year old car. Engine compartment is all original, and even have the original battery compartment partition intact. Really hate to sell this car, but present circumstances require. I have had many compliments in the community about this car the past two years that I have owned and driven it in the area...Good luck on the bidding. If you have any questions ask....

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
