1988 Pontiac Fiero GT. PW, PL, PM, Auto, V6, 98K miles. Lots of new parts including Edelbrock Performer 500 CFM carb., shocks, swaybar end links, trans fluid and filter, oil and filter, air filter, spark plugs, dew wipes, tires, headliner, alternator, floor mats, brakes, rotors, and more all with less than 1k miles. Have been using the car to commute to and from work with no issues. AC works. Also, the headlight, door lock, and window motors have been freshly greased and work very well. Car has a custom Chevy 4.3L V6.

I use the car as a commuter car to and from work and I really have no problems driving it. I consider the condition average or even above average for a car from 1988. The reason for the lower asking price is the 4.3L engine. The only thing I consider wrong with the car is the transmission, it seems to skip 2nd gear. If I were going to keep the car for a long time I would either put in a th440 (4t60) 4-speed Automatic or swap in a Getrag. Maybe even swap out the engine and trans for a 3800SC set-up. I am selling it because I already have an 84 Fiero 4-speed with an LT1 I put in and a 72 corvette and I need to get rid of something at the request of my wife.

What the car needs:
1 - Passenger side E-brake lever for the caliper is missing so e-brake will not work until that is installed (haven't had time to go junk yard shopping and it is an 88 specific part as far as I know)
2 - The bushings are all original so that is something to consider changing
3 - The paint is original so it has many blemishes
4 - The fuel door release lever in the car is broken. I just pull the cable by hand

The interior is nice, there are no rips in the seats and the headliner is new. There is some warping in the center console area and two cracks in the dash.

Thank you for your interest.

Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
