Breaking Bad "badger's" Gold Fiero on 2040-cars
Cordova, Tennessee, United States
Gold Pontiac Fiero driven on the show by Brandon Mayhew AKA Badger. I bought this from the Breaking Bad prop auction and I have now had a couple of weeks to go over it. Title reflects salvage at some point ( year 2000 - registered several times since then) and mileage discrepancy. The car has a terrible gold paint job probably applied by the studio, and a cracked windshield. Door and trunk locks are missing/ broken. It starts with a little starting fluid and drives fine. It will overheat if left idling because the fan switch doesn't kick on - if you turn on the fan using the A/C control the motor cools down immediately. I think this can be fixed with a lower temp fan switch. Catalytic converter has been deleted. Interior needs restoration, driver seat has a rip, dash has cracks and some of the plastic trim parts are warped. On the positive side, it runs, shifts, steers and brakes fine. All lights and signals work, and AM/FM cassette sounds great. Completely rust free southwestern car. Body is basically straight with no major defects apart from the paint job. Tires look almost new. I have replaced battery, plugs, air filter, thermostat, coolant temp sensor and fan switch. Spare tire and jack are in place. Headlights still pop up and low/ high beams work. This is a cool piece of Breaking Bad memorabilia, way more useful and fun than Walter White's underwear which sold for $9900. Transport will be the buyer's responsibility.

GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall
Wed, 09 Apr 2014General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.
Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series
Mon, 10 Mar 2014NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
