Vehicle Overview The Pontiac Firebird and its Chevrolet Camaro cousin will not be produced after the 2002 model year. This is your chance to get a piece of American history. Both of these rear-wheel-drive throwbacks to the muscle-car era date back to 1967 and were last redesigned for the 1994 model year. All Firebird models gain some standard equipment for 2002, including a power antenna and power windows, door locks and mirrors. Exterior Even though the Firebird is shaped much like the Camaro, the coupe and convertible are known for their twin-port grille up front, different taillights and other distinctive exterior features. The Firebird is the more aggressive-looking of the pair, which is no surprise, because Pontiac has long prided itself on being the sportiest division of the GM family. Most body panels are formed from composite material that is impervious to rust or corrosion. The Firebird rides a 101.1-inch wheelbase, measures just over 193 inches long and stands less than 52 inches tall. Removable T-top roof panels are included on this coupe. This model has 16-inch P235/55R16 tires on cast-aluminum wheels. A Sports Appearance Package for the base model includes a distinctive chin spoiler, rocker-panel extensions and a deeper rear valance to give drivers of the V-6 some of the image of the V-8 model. Interior Firebirds carry four occupants on cloth-upholstered bucket seats up front and a folding rear seat.The dashboard offers a full complement of gauges. Cargo space in the coupe is pretty good: 33.7 cubic feet with the rear seat folded and 12.9 cubic feet with the seat up. The base model has standard air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt steering wheel, tachometer, CD player, remote hatch release, automatic headlights and a theft-deterrent system and much more. Under the Hood The Firebird model uses a 200-hp, 3.8-liter V-6 engine that mates with a four-speed-automatic transmission. eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile
Sun, 29 Apr 2012Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am
Mon, 13 May 2013No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO
Mon, 24 Jun 2013Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.
