1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible, Yellow, All Original on 2040-cars
Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, United States
1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible, placed in service August 18, 1967 V8 326 cubic inch engine, 94,607 ORIGINAL miles, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes. Good condition and runs well. History and Background I bought this car from an older gentleman in May 2007. He had owned the car for 10 years and drove it from his home to the community lake. He told me the previous owner had it for 20 years and purchased it from the original owner. It was advertised as an “all original” Firebird with no rust. The floor had definitely been replaced and the exterior shows no signs of rust, but there is some rust in the car. Also, one of the previous owners had installed a manual choke, which does not work, and clearly not an original component to the car. First thing I did was put new radial tires on it and replaced the brakes. As far as I know everything else on the car is original. Original Owner’s Manual and New Vehicle Warranty book with Original Dealer Plate. The roof is in excellent condition, however the motor is not working and it can be moved up and down manually. I have never gotten it fixed since it has been garage kept and I just leave the roof down. In the last 7 years I only put 1,500 miles on it, only on sunny days for trips to the bank and grocery store. We will be moving soon and I will no longer have the garage space, and this baby needs a garage. Payment/Shipping

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later
Fri, 12 Sep 2014
Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."
2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern
Mon, 07 Nov 2011General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
