Absolutely gorgeous 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible. Fully restored 6 years ago and continuously maintained and kept in enclosed garage. All of the following were replaced new: interior, seat covers, door panels, carpet and mats, wooden steering wheel, chrome rear bumper, coils, springs, shocks, black top and top motor, trunk liner and headlamps.

This California classic has standard A/C, 273 posi rear, 4 disc brakes, power steering and a new fuel pump/filter. The underside looks great with nice undercoat. New power top is easy to use and works perfectly. Has Alpine radio/cd player and alarm system. Wood grain center console.

The motor in this car is beautiful! Restored with a 60k mile 5.7L (347.8 cu in) LT1-V8 engine out of a 1993 Z-28. The motor alone was over $6,000. Noticeably more horsepower than original 350 or 400 engines. Runs very strong and puts off a vicious sounding exhaust. See below for more information on LT1 technology.

It is missing the ashtray in the console rear section ($50 eBay), and A/C fan is complete but not hooked up. Who needs A/C when you have a convertible?!

As is where is, buyer responsible for shipping costs. Best of luck bidding!!

LT1

In 1992, GM created a new-generation small block engine called the LT1, recalling the 1970 LT1 moniker. It displaced 5.7 liters and was a 2-valve pushrod design. The LT1 used a reverse-flow cooling system which cooled the cylinder heads first, maintaining lower cylinder temperatures and allowing the engine to run at a higher compression than its immediate predecessors. The 1992-93 LT1s used speed density fuel manangement, batch-fire injection and a dedicated engine control module (EMC).

NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
