1969 - Pontiac Firebird on 2040-cars
Nogales, Arizona, United States
Here is a PHS documented 69 Firebird 400 convertible, it was stored in a garage from 1982 - 2008, I am the third owner. It can't be called a survivor but very few reproduction parts were used in the restoration other than wear and tear parts like the weather strip, interior, top and suspension parts. The original 400 was bored .030 over and was rebuilt with a roller cam and rockers for performance and reliability (see dyno sheet). New aluminum radiator, runs cool even in AZ. It has the original rebuilt Quadrajet and original distributor converted to Pertonix. I have the original exhaust manifolds but Ram Air long branch manifolds are installed, dual stainless Magnaflow exhaust sounds awesome. The motor and trans have less then 500 miles on them, the car runs and drives very well. The car comes with the numbers matching Turbo 400 AT but was converted to a 4 speed using a rebuilt 1969 Pontiac Muncie M20 and an original 69 Hurst shifter and linkage. The sub frame and A Arms were powder coated and the entire suspension was rebuilt, I added a larger front sway bar for improved handling and it has new KYB gas shocks all around.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial
Sat, 16 Mar 2013
The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
