Up for grabs is a true 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 4 speed car. Car original color carousel red(hugger orange) and a white cameo top.PHS documented with it's own unique highly option goods.Not a matching # engine,but I believe original muncie 4 speed. Safety Trac rear end,power steering,power front disc brakes,no air.I have done alot mechanically,but I'm not into body and fender.I had a proffesional shop replace both rear quarters and rear outside wheel wells and original steel tail panel.I rebuilt,I believe a 1970 Pontiac code block.No shortcuts,all stock,except mild cam,# 96 pontiac heads,performer alluminum intake,and holley 750 carb.Compression about 9 to 9.5to 1,so it runs on todays gas.New exhaust from exhaust manifold to back. New B.F. Goodrich tires on all 4 14x7" Pontiac Rally wheels. Three nice rims,1 needs restored.Nice center caps. Both engine and tires have about 5 miles on them.I just start it up once in a while and go to the corner and back,RUNS GREAT! Clear title in my name,but not tagged for road. Installed new rear air shocks,new brake booster,new master cylinder,new brake porportioning valve,front calipers and pads.Serviced rear end,new u-joints on driveshaft.New 4 row radiator(although I managed to bump it off and had to have a small leak repaired.Car has a very nice 400 hood,no rust.Floor pans are amazingly very solid condition except behind drivers,needing repair. Trunk pan also very solid except passenger side shock tower needing repair.Framerails good.Needs headliner,carpet.Has a little ding on top and very repairable driver door dent.Rockers are great.Doors open and close good,no sag.All glass is there,although windshield is cracked.Very nice 4 speed console.Dash has small crack.Original radio.Comes with what you see plus,new rear bumper,front marker turn signal assemblies,nice rear tailights,rear quarter marker lights,extra misc.front beak headlight cushions,bezels,grilles,and wiper arms.I've done alot,and have well over 10K in it.This car by no means is just a rolling shell,or was a six cylinder or 350 2 barrel job.Questions,please ask! GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall
Wed, 09 Apr 2014General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.
Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT
Fri, 10 Oct 2014The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
