I have for sale a 1969 Pontiac Firebird. It is a base coupe with all the original drivetrain. The engine is a Poncho 350 with Turbo 350 transmission. Two barrel carb. Unsure if the mileage has rolled over or not. It fires right up! It does smoke when giving it gas, so it probably needs valve seals. The block number is 9790079. Code YJ-620942, Intake-9794233. The interior is in pretty good condition. Absolutely no cracks in the dash!! All gauges, no idiot lights. Original Ralley wheels with brand new tires and also new shocks front and back. Power steering, power brakes. Runs and drives. Pretty straight body with minor dings. Usual rust spots on lower front and rear fenders but nothing bigger than a half dollar. It does have some rust on the drivers side floor pan and in the trunk area under the rear light buckets. Underneath the car is nice, nothing wrong with the subframe or frame rails. Dual exhaust. Clear California title and original black license plates! You can get in this thing and drive it while restoring it. Please take this off my hands before I tear it apart and do something stupid!! If you have any questions or would like pictures of certain areas, please let me know. Thanks

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
