Up for sale on this NO RESERVE auction is my Son's 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 400-4V, Auto, Factory AC.  This car was in pretty nice shape until a drunk driver ran into it while it was parked at a friends house, my son then began the restoration process but has since lost interest and bought another vehicle.  I know the car still runs, I started it and drove it around the block.  I honestly do not know much more about the vehicle other than it needs a complete restore and is in current running condition.  Some things I have noted:

Newer Carb and intake manifold
Newer Tires
Needs a new floor pan
Drivers Side Fender, front nose cone are gone.  He did not save the damaged parts so you will need to use replacements.
Most of the interior parts are gone, carpet headliner, back seats, passenger seat.  Will need new interior.
When I drove it around the block the brakes were shot.
Front glass has a crack from the corner - all other glass is in and in good shape.
power windows worked but were slow.
Other than the damage caused the rest of the body appears to be very straight and in good shape, doors open and close fine, panels look nice and straight, hood was not damaged in the wreck.

I am more than happy to make myself available to assist your shipping company, but the buyer will be responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs.  I will accept cash, paypal, or a bank wire transfer.  Cashiers checks are ok only upon the issuer of the check authenticating it prior to the vehicle/title being released.

It seems to me that this would be a great project car for someone or a great parts car.  The title is a clear title, not a salvage for the state of Colorado.  I hope the car goes to a good home and it's restored to its former glory.  I would think the many great parts alone on this car are worth a nice chunk of change, but I don't have the time or resources to part it out.

Happy Bidding.

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am

Wed, 15 May 2013

When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.
