1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Coupe 2-door 6.6l on 2040-cars
Oviedo, Florida, United States
I am the original owner of this Trans Am.. I ordered it new from Pontiac when I lived in Maryland with the WS6 handling package (4 wheel disc brakes, front and rear sway bar, 8" wide snow flake 15" aluminum wheels), 4spd., limit slip diff., power brakes/steering, hobnail suede cloth interior. I installed a radio Shack cassette Am/Fm radio with Jenkins rear speakers. I installed a re-built 400 cu in Pontiac engine. Power train was recently refurbished with new pistons/rings/rods, rod bearings, and Edelbrock Aluminum manifold, new pressure plate, clutch disc, throw-out bearing and ball bearing pilot bearing. It has just over 60,000 miles and still drives and runs great. It has never been wrecked, been driven in snow, and is completely rust free. The dark blue exterior with the light blue interior is a stunning combination. Car has been garaged keep it whole life.

GM issues four new recalls, 2.4 million cars affected
Tue, 20 May 2014General Motors has announced another set of recalls, covering some 2.42 million cars in the United States. For those keeping track, The General has now recalled over 15 million cars worldwide this year due to various issues.
Here's the breakdown for this most recent set of recalls:
1,339,355 - Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia models from the 2009 to 2014 model years; Saturn Outlook models from the 2009 to 2010 model years
Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way
Tue, 21 Feb 2012There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
