1996 pontiac trans am ws6 with a procharged p1sc that makes 425 rear wheel horsepower with 5 pounds of boost... tuned by hi tech motorsports in elk river mn. I drove the car 70 miles to the dyno on a 98 degree day and made those numbers, tuned very consertive. This car has many modifications and is very fast. I drive this car everywhere and it gets attenion. Here is a list of the modifications

procharger p1sc that was gone through by procharger less than a thousand miles ago, works very well

crane powermax cam 104227 with hardened pushrods gm performance ls1 valve valve springs with steel retainers, gm performance 1.6 rockers, stock aluminum heads with a three angle valve job, mls head gasket along with arp head studs, lunati hydraulic roller lifters

Slp mid length headers with 3 inch exhaust going into borla cat back system

holly 52mm throttle body, msd coil, glowshift triple pod gauges with boost, air fuel wideband, and fuel pressure gauges, msd6btm igniton, powdercoated black stock ws6 rims, starter and altenator have been rebuilt recently, adjustable panhard bar, strut tower brace

Has a fully built transmission that can hold 550 horsepower along with a tci breakaway torque converter... with under 2000 miles on everything. rear end has gm 373 gears. also has a prothane  transmision mount

there was only 52 trans am made in 96 with red interior...very desirable

 The bad

could use two tires

prothane tranny mount makes the car a little noisier

has original paint which is 18 years old. I would rate it a 7.5 out of 10, i am picky

ac does not work...think it needs a charge... i always have t tops off so it doesnt bother me

I am sure there is more that i am forgetting. this is a very well built streetcar that has never let me down. And did i mention that it is very fast!

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
