1964 Pontiac GTO

Up for bid is a 1964 Pontiac LeMans Custom built to represent a GTO post.  The car was done in a USA theme to honor a fallen soldier whose dream was to complete this car. The car is fresh and very nicely done with all the right components and shows very well and very clean with a lot of detail.  Close to 60K has been spent on the build with the asking price much lower with only 10K miles driven since the restoration was complete.  The build was a complete body off.  The car runs and drives excellent and needs nothing.  Turnkey car and go.

Please read on to learn about the particulars of this car:

Body/Paint:  The body is original GM steel that is very straight using multiple coats of primer and blocking.  GTO badging with original GTO hood.  The paint is beautiful base/clear using a deep burgundy metallic and shows very nicely.

Interior:  The interior is unique using very soft leather like material with USA theme.  Very comfortable and roomy.  All gauges are digital read out.  Sirus satellite radio and custom shifter.  Custom sound system with 6 speakers.  Two large woofers mounted in the trunk with 2 speakers on the package self and two in the kick panels.  Sounds awesome.  Fob auto door locks, alarm.  New Vintage AC and blows cold.

Running gear:  The engine is a totally rebuilt Pontiac 455 with an Edelbrock aluminum intake, New Fast electronic throttle body fuel injection.  Ceramic coated headers.  The HP is approximately 375 or so with lots of torque.  Elgin E980P cam, duration 288-298.  New high torque starter with heat shield.  The transmission is a rebuilt 200R4 with shift kit.  The rear is stock and has been gone through.  Dual electric pusher fans.  Driveshaft fully balanced.  Power steering.  New fuel tank with sender and fuel pump.

Glass:  The windshield is new with the rest of the glass original to the car in very good condition.

Frame/suspension:  The car was restored body off with a powered coated frame.  Suspension rebuilt with air shocks on the rear.  New front coil springs.

Brakes:  Four wheel power disc brakes using late 70's Cadillac.

Exhaust:  Really nice exhaust with flow masters.  Sounds Awesome!!

Wheels/Tires:  Like new rubber BFG’s on chrome Crager wheels.  265/50 R16 rears and 225/60 R15 fronts.  Looks and sits with the right stance.

Summary:  If you are looking for a classic ride that is turnkey and ready to drive and enjoy this car is worthy of your consideration.  Nice color combo combined with excellent running gear it is a cruiser that turn heads.  I have over 80 pictures of the car so if you are serious just contact me and request more pictures providing your email address.

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.
