For your consideration, here is a 1964 Pontiac GTO that had been sitting in a garage since 1975. The previous owner stated he had purchased the car in 1966 from the 2nd owner.

This is an ORIGINAL GTO backed up with PHS documentation. It is a factory Starlight Black car, with a Black bucket seat interior. It was equipped with a desirable 389 Tri-Power and 4 Speed transmission. The original motor is long gone. It currently has a 428 Tri-Power in it (which I believe is a 1969). The motor turns over but has not run in years, although it was said to run when parked.

The owner de-trimmed this car years ago in preparation of a new paint job (which never got done). The car is extremely straight with very little rust. There is a small rust spot on the lower portion of the driver's front fender, a couple spots on the trunk floor (does not need a trunk pan) , along the front of the hood, and a small part on the deck lid. The rest of the car is pretty nice, the floor pans and cowl are solid. I tried to cover these areas with the pictures.

As far as I can tell, this car is complete (radio, emblems, trim, etc) and comes with the car. It is missing the trim that runs along the rockers, but those along with most parts to restore this car are readily available.

This is a great opportunity to have a very desirable car that is basically an easy restoration project. Very little body work is required and it still has its original paint (well, most of it anyway).

I cannot validate the mileage as original.

Please ask any questions PRIOR to bidding on this car. The reserve is very reasonable. I WILL NOT answer any questions on what I want for the car or what the reserve is. I will consider reasonable offers, however you must have made a bid so I know you are serious. This car is sold as is and the buyer is responsible for transportation.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
