                                     1966 GTO

I have decided to sell a few of my collectible cars as I have found a 1970 Cuda I will possibly be purchasing next Friday.

This GTO is not a clone, check the vin # yourself. I am the 3rd owner with lots of documentation on the car, it has 65,000 actual miles but the title shows exempt because of the year. It is not a restored car, but a car that has been preserved meticulously by all of it's owners including me.

Body- all original panels with 1 repaint since new, I would estimate 10 years ago. Looks like drivers quarter on the bottom behind the rear wheel has had some work done, and I know this because I know cars, the average guy would never detect it as it looks that good of a repair ( 3x5 inch metal repair).  I would rate the paint at an 8 out of 10 with a few chips, etc. from being driven to car shows.

Floor pans and trunk- No rust from my inspection, I believe they are original to the car. They are undercoated from the factory and have been detailed with black paint.

Interior- I would say the carpet and seats have been done at some point as they are too perfect to be original, only my assumption. Headliner, dash, door panels also in near perfect condition. All gauges work including the In Dash Tach, console vacuum gauge and electric antenna.

Drivetrain- Original 389 numbers correct motor with original 4 speed transmission.

General description- the car runs and drives tight, I have had it at many shows. All the lights, gauges work as they did when it was new. I would drive this car across the country it is that reliable. (If you chose to do that your on your own once you leave my driveway, it is 47 years old !!)

If you have 0 bids, call me before placing a bid or I will cancel your bid. I prefer cash or wire transfer, NO CHECKS unless they clear my bank before I send the title and release the car.

Any questions please call or email me, 828-808-3864

GM issues four new recalls, 2.4 million cars affected

Tue, 20 May 2014

General Motors has announced another set of recalls, covering some 2.42 million cars in the United States. For those keeping track, The General has now recalled over 15 million cars worldwide this year due to various issues.
Here's the breakdown for this most recent set of recalls:
1,339,355 - Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia models from the 2009 to 2014 model years; Saturn Outlook models from the 2009 to 2010 model years

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
