1969 Pontiac GTO. This is a California car, sold new in December, 1968. I have the original window sticker, build sheet, and "pro-tect-o plate". The original California license plate issued to the vehicle, is displayed on the front. These are the options on the vehicle: 400 c.i. (replacement block), 4 speed, 3:55 non posi, power steering, vinyl roof, console, rally gauges, tinted windshield, headrests, simulated wood steering wheel, hidden headlamps, and Rally II wheels. I added the following options: power windows, hood tachometer, trunk light, tilt steering column, and factory steel reproduction Ram Air system.

In December 2010, I removed the engine, re sealed all the gaskets, new rear main seal, new oil pump, fuel pump, timing chain, new clutch assembly. The exhaust is aluminized. The tires are "Diamond Back" red line radials. The interior front buckets seats are recovered, new carpet, headliner, and I installed a vinyl dash cover. The belts, hoses, and radiator are new. The brake system was refurbished. The rear bumper is new. All gauges work, and I installed an FM under dash radio.  The paint has some nicks, and I did some touchup where needed. The door and trunk weatherstrip, have been replaced. The frame and body are rust free. The trunk floor appears to have been professionally replaced with the correct pattern sheet metal, by a previous owner. I have a list of all maintainence parts installed over the past two years.

This GTO is a strong running vehicle. Great for touring. The car looks good, and drives out very well.

I reserve the right to end the auction early, as the vehicle is "for sale" locally.

The auction winner is responsible for picking up the car. A $500.00 dollar deposit is requested, at the end of the auction. A balance transfer is requested to complete the sale.

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns

Thu, 15 May 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
