Selling my Father's dream car.  You are looking at a full restoration 1969 Pontiac GTO Convertible.  Restored in 1995 and driven 500 miles.  Vehicle was then covered and stored for 10 years until my father purchased in 2005.  The car has won many awards at car shows.  This thing is a beauty!

This is the quintessential classic muscle car.  It drives strong and runs great.  Trust me, you will have a blast driving this!  Unsure of mileage, but my father has only driven a few thousand miles since restoration.  Being that the car is in Michigan, it was only driven on nice summer days.  The motor is not original, but was rebuilt at same time as restoration.  Everything was restored to factory stock.  Crystal Turquoise (a must see in person...beautiful!) with white interior, and a black convertible top.  Transmission is a 4-speed manual.  Bench seats.  The neat thing about the bench seats and transmission is that is how vehicle was delivered from factory.  You see, most people opted for bucket seats with a manual transmission, and most that purchased within the last 40 years converted bench to bucket.  This means you will probably never see a stock bench seat with 4-speed transmission.  I have included the production numbers from Pontiac to show you just how rare this option is.  Also attached is the window sticker, the invoice, and specs on 1969 Pontiac GTO's.

Vehicle is in great condition.  The only thing it needs is a switch for the power top (it currently works off a toggle switch mounted under the dash below the non working power switch).  I have seen new switches on Ebay for around $50.  Also, the right rear roll up window is off the track.  The same thing happened to the left window 3-4 years ago, and I had my local mechanic put back on for $70.  Since my dad only drives it when it is nice outside, he keeps the windows down, along with the convertible top...if you know what I mean.

I really wish the car was staying in the family, but it is time for this to be a dream car for someone new.  Is that you?

Good Luck Bidding!

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
