This car belongs to a very good friend of mine. About 15 years ago we restored the body. Then a couple of years later rebuilt the engine and transmission. We also installed all new brakes and a rear with 411 gears ( we also have the stock rear). The parchment interior has new front seat foam and cushions maybe 5 years ago and the white power top was done about the same timeand there is a boot for when it is down. The floors have been repaired when the body work was done about 15 years ago and panels were purchased for the front sections. There is some new sheet metal in the rear quarters also. The rear bumper is the original that we had rechromed for 1200 dollars. The exhaust is a dual system and sounds nice. The car has been used on a regular basis and shows a couple of chips, and a couple of small blisters under the paint but have been there for a couple of years with no change. The rubber nose It spends it's off time in a garage kept dry and out of any harsh weather conditions. We installed a new radio from antique auto radio it has an am/fm and a cd changer set up but looks just like the original one it was 850.00 dollars we also installed new front kick panels with speakers in them for a decent sound. I have a ton of recipets and the phs documents for the car only the extrior color was change to a dark blue from the lite blue it was. The rims are the correct 14 inch wheels with the trim rings and are in very nice shape. The car is a driver get in and just go. The hideaways work with all new parts so driving at night is not a problem. You can email me with any questions you have and I am sure I have forgotten a lot of things we did to the car over the years so just ask me.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
