1970 Pontiac Gto on 2040-cars
Carrollton, Missouri, United States
This GTO is a documented California delivery with a rust free body. The Atoll Blue paint was finished in Dupont
Chromabase B9808K Alt 1 and Dupont Premier Clear in the summer of 2005. The body lines are excellent and the fit
and finish is superb. The chrome and bright trim is excellent and both the exterior mirror and rear bumper were
replated.
The Engine:
The 400 Cubic Inch Pontiac V8 is original and was rebuilt in 2005 with about 90,000 miles on the engine. A Missouri
Performance Engine Shop did the rebuild to Ram Air 3 Specs with Ram Air 3 Camshaft. Other performance upgrades
include Pro Rebuilt Carburetor ($399) and Ram Air factory headers and ultimate exhaust kit ($740.00) The engine
starts right up on the automatic choke with an awesome rumble. The big V8 performs flawlessly, carries 60-80 pounds
of oil pressure with no smoke and no leaks. Take a look at the engine bay images... all correct hoses, hose
clamps, fittings, and even factory decals are correct. The air conditioning system is complete and works
perfectly... my meticulous friends even restored the original California Evap Emission System... AMAZING!
The Interior:
The matching blue interior of this GTO is nearly flawless. The dash and dash pad are perfect! All the lights and
switches work perfectly including the A/C and all of the power windows. All the gauges work perfectly except the
odometer is stuck. The center console is excellent, the headliner is superb, the front buckets and rear bench have
no noticeable wear and the blue carpeting is nice as well. The front passenger floor mat could use a cleaning. The
sport steering wheel and horn button are excellent. The interior has two non stock upgrades... they are an under
dash Air Fuel Ratio Gauge ($200) these gauges are an excellent tool when tuning a vintage muscle car, and the stock
AM radio was upgraded to stereo with I-pod compatibility by S&M Electro Tech ($430)... this upgrade is invisible
and the I-pod connector cable is accessed through the ash tray... very nicely done.
The Transmission:
The automatic transmission received a complete rebuild in July of 2006. The transmission shifts crisply and handles
all the torque of the big V8 with no leaks or evidence of slippage.
The Trunk:
The trunk is in excellent stock condition with no evidence of corrosion or damage. Stock spare tire, jack, and hold
down hardware are present as well as jacking instruction decals. Trunk seal is in great condition.
The Chassis:
Take a look at the photos... a rust and damage free frame, new fuel tank, new free flow exhaust, new shocks,
springs, sway bars, and brakes, four new PMD wheels and 4 very nice BF Goodrich TA Radials. The car drives and
handles like a new car.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am
Mon, 13 May 2013No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.
