Restorable true 1965 Pontiac GTO. The car was built November 20 1964 at the Fremont plant here in Northern California. It was parked outside in the Central Valley area of Stockton California somewhere around 1973 until just this year. The old goat wears whats left of the original paint which is Nightwatch Blue (E code). The motor thats in it is not the original 389 4 barrell but a Pontiac 350 from a Firebird, and it is frozen. The rest of the car looks to be complete and totally original including the clutch set up, 4 speed and rear end. The car suffered a large tree dropping leaves all over it for the last 40 years which eventually rusted out the A pillars and around the windshield and back glass. The rest of the car as far as rust issues is what you would expect of a Northern California car - Frame Inner Fenders Rockers Doors are all good - minor rust at the floor pan, right quarter and trunk.

I purchased the car recently with plans to leave it as is. I would install a cage, monster running gear and run it. Those plans are still in place but it is a real 65 GTO and after getting it back into my shop I realized it could be restored. I figured I would give you folks a chance to save it before I start the project. I can always find a Tempest or Lemans down the road for my "Rusty Relic Racing" idea it doesnt have to be the real deal. Reserve is set at what I have into the car down to the penny, if reserve is not met the cars mine.

Clear California title in my name in hand - Car is currently licensed and registered in California.

Thanks for checking out my auction. If you need specific pictures of any areas or more details dont hesitate to "ask seller a question". Car is sold where is as is with no warranties expressed or implied. Shipping costs are buyers resposibility although we will make sure its loaded onto your carrier properly. If you need help with transport, ask. We may be able to help find a good one for you. Payment in full within 5 days by cash in hand, wire transfer or check. NO PAYPAL

                                                                                      Best of Luck

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
