1974 Pontiac Grand Am - **excellent** on 2040-cars

Year:1974 Mileage:48941

1974 Pontiac Grand AM
400 cid / 4bbl Rochester (upgraded from the factory 4bbl) / Automatic Transmission

This car has underwent a cosmetic and mechanical restoration. The body is excellent and the paint is in excellent condition with a super shine. The front seats and dash have been reupholstered and the carpet replaced.  The engine has been rebuilt and a mild cam installed along with replacement of the factory dual exhaust system. The transmission has been rebuilt and a shift kit installed in.

The car runs and drives excellent, all gauges work (except the clock), door hing pins have been replaced so there is no sag in the doors, tires are in good condition. There are two small scratches aproximately 3" long in the decklid near the lock that have been touched up, 2 chips on the passenger side near the top of the side rear window that were touched up (approximately the size of a pencil eraser), and only a few minor rock chips etc. There are no dents and the floors are in great condition.
The car is missing the A/C compressor, lines, evaporator, and POA valve - all available from Classic Air. If the car does not sell, I will be adding the components and the price will go up accordingly.

The seats and headliner are in excellent condition and the dash pad was recovered. The chrome on the rear bumper is driver quality with minor scratches and scuffs. The body is straight and the paint is in excellent condition with a fantastic shine as can be seen in the photos.  There are minor imperfections that are unnoticeable unless you get within inches of the surface and catch them in the right light. I point this out as this is the type of information I want when purchasing a vehicle on-line.

This is definitely an attention grabber at shows as most people have either never seen one or have never seen one in the condition this car is in.  With the muscle car prices continuing to climb, the collector market is starting to look towards the later year Pontiacs as the next collectibles.  You can already see the 70's Firebirds and TA's increasing, the Grand AM is a rarer vehicle with essentially the same drivetrain.

Feel free to send an inspector to look over the vehicle, I will make sure we work to accommodate their schedule.  I am able to store the car for an arranged period of time after the auction in a heated / air conditioned environment, and can work with you on arranging shipping.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
