VERY RARE 40TH ANNIVERSARY DAYTONA 500 PACE CAR. THIS IS THE YEAR THAT DALE EARNHARDT WON. THIS IS CAR NUMBER 176 OUT OF 1500 EVER MADE. THIS CAR CAME FROM ALABAMA ORIGINALLY AND WAS PROBABLY AT THE TRACK THAT DAY. WHAT MAKES THIS CAR EVEN MORE RARE IS THAT ONLY 100 WERE EVER MADE WITH SUNROOFS. INTERIOR IS GRAY LEATHER WITH POWER DRIVER'S SEAT. IT HAS THE 3.8 SUPERCHARGED ENGINE. THIS IS ALSO "SLP" EQUIPPED (LOUDMOUTH EXHAUST, COLD AIR INTAKE, THERMOSTAT) ENGINE PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENTS INCLUDE: DHP COMPUTER (DIGITAL HORSEPOWER), PORTED AND POLISHED SUPERCHARGER (REBUILT WITH ALL NEW BEARINGS), NOSE PEICE WAS ALSO REBUILT, AND IS SET UP WITH A QUICK CHANGE INTERCHANGEABLE PULLEY SYSTEM (I WILL INCLUDE EXTRA "NEVER USED" PULLEY). ALL WORK ON THE SUPERCHARGER WAS DONE BY "AMERICAN SUPERCHARGER". I HAVE MANY, MANY RECEIPTS FOR THIS CAR, AND ORIGINAL BIULD SHEET. NOTHING INTERNAL WAS TOUCHED ON THIS CAR, SUPER RELIABLE - GREAT DAILY DRIVER!! DOES NOT USE OR BURN ANY OIL!! ALSO HAS A THROTTLE BODY SPACER, NEWER FACTORY INJECTORS, THEY FACTORY "U-BEND" IN THE EXHAUST WAS TAKEN OUT AND REPLACED WITH A STAINLESS STRAIGHT PIPE (PLUS 7 HP), CHROME STRUT BRACE, I'M SURE THERE'S MORE?? I LITERALLY JUST HAD A BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD PUT IN LAST WEEK (IT HAD A SMALL CRACK FROM A STONE CHIP). MANY, MANY, MANY NEWER PARTS. JUST SPENT $600 ON NEW A/C SYSTEM (COMPRESSOR AND CONDENSER) - NICE AND COLD. NEWER TIRES (LESS THAN 5,000 MILES), AWESOME V-RATED (150 MPH) ALTIMAX HP CONTINENTAL (AGRESSIVE ALL SEASON). THIS CAR HANDLES VERY GOOD WITH THESE TIRES AND NEW SUSPENSION. I AM ALSO GOING TO THROW IN A FACTORY SET OF NEW CARPETED GM FLLORMATS THAT I NEVER REALLY USED (DIDN'T WANT TO GET THEM DIRTY) THESE WERE $80 COST. YES, IT HAS FLAWS - SOME RUST (NOT MUCH), LITTLE DENT'S AND DINGS (THE USUAL FOR AGE). - STILL LOOKS GOOD! RUNS GREAT AND WILL GET 32 PLUS MPG ON THE HIGHWAY, 24 - 27 MPG DRIVING AROUND NORMAL. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW ANY PERFORMANCE SPECS OR FACTS, SEND ME AN EMAIL. THIS CAR WAS NEVER TAKEN TO A TRACK/STRIP AND BEAT ON!! THE ONLY REASON THAT THE AUTOCHECK SCORE IS LOW IS BECAUSE IT HAD 6 OWNERS, BUT THREE OF THOSE WERE CAR DEALERS - LIKE I SAID, IT'S BEEN MINE FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial
Sat, 16 Mar 2013
The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.
