up for your consideration is my 1969 pontiac grand prix model j,this is a mumbers matching mostly rust free pa car with a clear pa title..lets get the mechanical part of the car out of the way...this car runs and drives as nice as it gets..its the nicest running, driving car that ive drivin..so just so you know,it does not need 1 thing mechanicly in my opinion.you could easily drive this car while you tinker with the rest of it..the frame and floors and trunk are beautiful.it had a repaint probably back in the 90s,not horrable but the car deserves to be repainted and brought back to its glory..interior is all original and would need to be redone at one point, carpet is good, dash is beautiful with no cracks, console is nice...it will need a new shifter cable as it binds up ,there only 30 on ebay..i drove to southern pa to pick this car up ,it has so much going for it,true numbers matching 400 with the th400,air car and everything still there, and seems to work, and its a good color combo car, code 51 liberty blue with white interior, and finally, southern pa extremely clean car..i am only listing because i dont think ill get to the car this year and dont want it sit.i am a buick gran sport guy and have been for for 25 years, ive always liked these and thats why i did a 12 hour trip to go get.these cars are hard to find that arent all rotted out, this would be an easy car to strip down and repaint..please call me with any questions,315-725-5493.i will keep car in the garage for a few weeks after sold until car is picked up..also this car did have a vinal top wich has been removed,i did remove some of the chrome and both front and rear chrome wich i saved and is in trunk.also the engine has an aluminum intake and i beleive a holley 650 vacumm carb, other then that the engine looks stock, althoughit definitly looks like its been rebuilt and not to long ago, after looking at it on the lift the paint on the motor looks recent.again, engine purrrrrs and car is a dream to drive,no dissappointments there....

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
