1976 Pontiac Grand Prix Base Coupe 2-door 5.7l 80k Miles on 2040-cars

Perryville, Arkansas, United States

1976 Pontiac Grand Prix with barely over 80000 miles.  The engine is very strong and I just had the transmission gasket and filter replaced. Brakes adjusted and the mechanic said it was the first time it was ever done because the factory tabs were still on the back.  All of the glass is great.  I do have new window, door and trunk seals that are included but not installed.  Seats all have great padding but the covering has been dried out with age.  The headliner, visors, dash are in great shape.  Cigarette lighter and ashtray have never been used. It has an after market radio that sounds lousy because it's hooked up to the original speakers. I do have the Original AM radio.  Rally wheels with the original hubcaps in the trunk. One screw is missing on the inside door pull handle drivers side.  The vinyl top is shot.  From what I can tell there is only surface rust.  I was going to do away with it if I kept it but a new one is about 150 on ebay.  All lights work and all lenses are fine.  The body is fine with no dents.  The stick on side chrome is missing in spots (another item I was going to do away with)  A/C has been converted to 134 but only works sometimes.  From what I can tell it just needs paint and seat coverings to make it really nice.  I had purchased this car from a professor at the local college who was transferring to West Virginia with his family. He told me he got the car from his uncle a about 20,000 miles and has had it ever since.  Overall I really don't think you'll find another car in better condition at 38 years old.  The starting bid is my reserve so high bidder gets it.  I would not be scared to drive this anywhere.  Fly in, drive home. THANKS FOR LOOKING

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
