1989 Pontiac Grand Prix ASC Mclaren Turbo
Up for auction is my 89 Turbo charged Pontiac Grand Prix, one of less the 700 produced in 1989, to put this in perspective you could get a loaded SE model for $15000. this would have cost you $27,000! I have the original invoice. If you don't know about this automotive rarity spend 10 minutes on the internet and do some homework. The top of the GP in 89 made 130 horsepower, the turbo is rated at 205 hp, there is a hugh difference, I should know I also have a showroom condition SE that is quick, not fast like the Turbo! Everything works, powers seats, windows, Moonroof, Radio. I have six cars, need to move a few out of the way for some new toys. Here's what I have done:(last 6 months) -Complete tune up (platinum plugs and wires) -new alternator -new water pump -new belt -replaced the HUD (heads up display, shoots all your vital stats onto the windshield) COOL! -billet and poly dog bone engine mounts -K&N air filter -Rebuilt radiator ($500) new trans cooler, and all new steel trans cooler and rad lines $$ -Oil and filter
New Parts: -Professionally built turbo crossover pipe -new turbo blanket -new power antenna -2 original door handles -turbo supplement manual -2 new wheel center caps (rare!!!!) -complete set on nos emblems $$$$ -Front Valance (hens teeth rare) More, the interior is leather and has no ripes or tears this is very uncommon, the carpet and mats are original and in excellent condition. This is a 3 owner car, the first owner who 27K for it took very good care of her the second owner let it sit outside... There is not any rust, but the paint and tires should be done. You could eat of the engine!!
Cons: -needs paint -needs tires -Headliner is dropping -dent behind drivers door, (not that bad, just there) -usual dings

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction
Tue, 08 Apr 2014Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.
Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k
Fri, 08 Aug 2014General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.
