This is a 1969 LeMans convertible that has been tastefully cloned into a GTO. It has a 350 Pontiac/Turbo 400, non-posi rear end. It is built for looks not for speed. Bucket seats console shift. The car has fresh paint, new top, new carpet, new door panels, new seat upholstery, new exhaust. The car runs, and drives very nice, and looks real good. I get lots of comments, and stares. The car was a project I spent the last 13 years gathering parts, and doing the work as I could afford it. It just got painted, but I am missing a few items. When I got the car it had no exterior trim, and I have not finished buying all that it needs. It needs rocker panel molding, and wheel well molding for the passenger side. I was going to get new moldings, but have not done so yet. It is very close to being finished, but is drivable as is. A few things that need attention are

gas gauge- not working
dash lights-not working
speedometer-not working

All headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals front and rear all work fine. The top frame is old, and you have to be careful when raising, or lowering the top that it folds, and unfolds properly. Works fine, just have to watch it while raising/lowering. Power top. Tinted glass. It is not a show winner, but a fantastic looking driver.

No stereo, or speakers. This is a project that is about 95% complete. It still needs a few things, but can be driven as is. I drove it a lot this summer, and had a blast.

I have too many vehicles, and thought about selling it before it was painted, but wanted to wait until it was painted, and drivable so I could get more out of it. Want to make some room in my shop, and have decided to let it go if the reserve price is met.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
