2006 Pontiac Solstice In Concept Colors 40,000 Miles! Make Offer! on 2040-cars

Year:2006 Mileage:40096 Color: body panels hydroformed
Location:

Sacramento, California, United States

Sacramento, California, United States

Carmax has offered me $7000.00 for this car, and in 72 hours I will be selling this car to them unless someone offers more. You are bidding on a 2006 Pontiac Solstice in concept colors. The Pontiac Solstice was first seen at the 2002 Auto Show and the brought to life in 2006, designed by Bob Lutz, the same man who designed the BMW 3 series, Dodge Viper and the Plymouth Prowler. The Pontiac Solstice is the only car to have all of its exterior body panels hydroformed, meaning all the curves of the body panels were formed with water. The car is registered in my father's name and has a clean New York state title. Car is paid off with title in hand. The car was just clay bar and waxed for the next owner. As of today it has 40,096 miles on it, Keep in mind it is still driven from day to day, so it may have a couple of hundred more when it is picked up. Less then 40,600 guaranteed. Car also has a 5 speed Manual transmission. I bought the car on April 28 2011 and have had only synthetic oil changes done on the car and performed all routine and needed maintenance. Car is 110% mechanically sound, you can drive it anywhere. I'm also willing to bring it to your mechanic or dealership to have it looked over, if they are local to the Sacramento area. The car is in fantastic shape inside and outside. It is in the concept colors of Grey Steel and two tone leather interior. It has premium 18 inch wheels, 6 CD in dash changer, an XM antenna added to trunk, power windows and power locks. It shows minor scuffs and minor scratches. The gap in between the bumper and the fenders is a little greater because of a parking block mishap, but not really noticeable. The flip out passenger side cup holder is broken and stuck in. The top has a tiny "slit" in it only an inch long, It was patched with a very thin line of clear waterproof sealant. The car has been through many, many cars washes since it was patched with no problems or leaking. The front bumper has scratches underneath it. I parked too close to a parking block and backed up over it. Some scuffs and missing 2 small clips.  The car at one point was also improperly put on a lift and lifted. Leaving small divots on the bottom of each of the front fenders. Afterwards, the passenger side fender was hitting the door seam so there is a small paint chip on the passenger door where it meets the fender. The fender has been put back in place and does not hit the door anymore. The car also has the "ABS" light on, due to the driver side back sensor being "bad/broken". I never replaced it, having a small roadster without abs never bothered me. The keyless entry remotes do not work. A dealership has told me that it needs new remotes. The back passenger side wheel shows some very minor cosmetic damage (please see photos) and the front passenger wheel has very minor scuff. FYI the car has been smoked in, on and off. Seeking $9,000.00, best offers will be considered. The only reason I am selling this car is because I'm moving across the country, if not for that it wouldn't be for sale or for this price. All buyers can arrange to come see the car in person before bidding if they would like. The car is located in the downtown Sacramento area. Winning bidder must pay a $500 deposit within 48 hours and the rest on pick up. Delivery might be able to be arranged, please message me before bidding. I will ship anywhere, as long as the full cost is paid for by the buyer as well as the shipping arrangements made by them as well. Questions call Chris 6465849739

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
