1975 Pontiac Grand Ville Brougham Four Door with approximately 132,500 miles.

Loaded with factory options and the following equipment: power driver and passenger seats (both work), 455 V8 with 4 bbl carburetor and automatic transmission, rally gauges with fuel economy gauge, dual remote mirrors (work), power windows (all work), power locks (2 of the 4 are functioning properly), tilt steering column, cruise control (did not want to work last time we tried it), ATC (heater temp works fine; air conditioning needs at least a charge - we have never used it), AM/FM stereo with 8-track player (both am and fm work on the radio - 8-track has not been tried for quite some time), digital clock (does not work), litter container, delay wipers (working), rear window defroster (works), visor vanity mirrors, trip odometer, remote trunk release, front cornering lamps (working), and more.

There are some rust issues, the worst of which is under/around the vinyl top, especially around the rear window and side opera windows (not too bad on the driver's side but pretty significant on the passenger side).  The top itself needs replacing too.  Otherwise, there is a little rust-through in the passenger side dog leg and other rust in passenger side lower rear quarter near the chrome trim (and probably underneath the trim too).  The car itself is very solid.  Floor pans and trunk are good.  Frame is solid.  Doors are in good shape, as are the fenders, hood, and trunk lid.  (We have several pictures of the underside of the car too, so if you need to see some of those, please ask.)

There are a few cracks in the dash pad.  The headliner has some minor holes in it, but it's still functioning okay.

The seats show a fair amount of wear and a few pieces of the "top foam layer" are gone from the front seats.

Both bumpers, headlights, taillights, bezels, etc., are in very good condition, with the exception of driver's side taillight bezel which is cracked (lens is fine).

We have taken many pictures of the Grandville but are limited on the number we can include in the listing.  So we do have more - please ask for others.

We do have a clear title and keys.   The car is currently licensed and insured.

Mileage indicated in the listing details is not accurate.

E-mail requests for additional pictures.  (We have lots more photos but are limited to 12 for this listing.)

There is NO SHIPPING for this car unless you as buyer arrange for it via a third party shipper.  This is a running and driving car, and we have driven it distances of at least 300 miles one way, but not for a few years.  You may want to replace belts and/or hoses before driving it too far.

Tires are still in good condition - at least two of them have approximately 85% of the tread remaining and are about 5 years old.

We do have the owner's manual and a copy of the original build sheet.

Buyer is responsible for all costs of delivery/pick up.  Seller will cooperate as much as possible regarding pickup.

This car is located in the Greater Saint Louis area of Missouri.  A nearby zip code is 63123.

Please remember that your bid is a contract.  $500 down payment due within 3 days of end of auction. (NO PayPal unless arranged in advance.)  50% of purchase price must be paid within 7 days of auction's end.  Balance of payment is due within 14 days of the end of the auction - no exceptions.  Time frame for removal is somewhat flexible, but we'd like to have the car picked up within 30 days.  (Please give us a couple days' notice before pickup.)

The car is for sale locally so we reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
