1970 Trans Am Ram Air III. WS 400 345 HP motor(L74) with factory 4 speed with Hurst shifter. Performance axle
special option 12 bolt rear end with 3:73 gears. With just 39,863 documented original miles, this classic retains a
whole lot of its originality. In 1972 it was added to a large car collection and sat undisturbed until 2012. At
this time the original WS motor was rebuilt to factory specs. Motor has less then 100 miles on it and is free of
ticks, knocks, or smoke. The entire car is dry and free of leaks. It also received its first repaint in the correct
Polar White then put back in storage. The car runs strong, shifts smoothly and handles well for retaining all its
original suspension/steering components, including the factory spiral front shocks. The original open face
alternator was retained rebuilt. The Ram Air scope operates as it should. Other than new pads, the brake system has
never been touched and the car brakes good. The car sits on its original rally wheels with BF Goodrich tires that
were put on the car in 1972.
The interior retains all its original components except the carpet and shifter boot (Which I have). Has the a rare
working rear defroster and tilt wheel. Absolutely everything thing works including the clock, dome light, tach,
heater, all factory gauges, all lights and even the horn. The radio was removed prior to 1972 but still has front
and rear factory speakers. Interior is in very nice shape.
The exterior as mentioned was repainted in 2012. It is believed to retain all its original sheet metal .The front
nose has zero cracks as with most. body is straight and tight. Doors do not sag and operate like new. Overall, nice
driver quality paint.
Instead of being invoiced to a dealership, the car was delivered new from the US to General Motors engineering of
Canada in Oshawa Ontario on April1 1970. The car was used as a “test mule” for the next year while in the hands
of GM engineering.
During this time, a prototype sunroof was installed to GM factory production standards but was never available as
an option as Pontiac went with the T-tops. It works great, does not leak and its obvious it was installed correctly.
The other notable change during this time was a Pontiac aluminum intake was installed possibly to mimic the Ram Air
IV motor. It retains the quad 4-bbl with a manual choke.
Per the longtime owner,In 1971 it was transferred to Terry Godsall of the Titus Godsall Trans Am Racing Team who
sold it to the longtime owner in 1972. The car was never raced and was believed to be used for promotional
purposes. All but 500 miles were put on the car prior to 1972.
I have tried to be as descriptive as possible with the knowledge I have concerning this car. I have included as
many high-quality photos as allowed. The link below will provide even more photos, two running videos.
With only 1769 4 speed Ram Air III cars made, this very low mile, unrestored PHS documented America muscle car
survivor is a rare find. This is the real deal Ram Air III. Car is for sale in other markets and may be removed at
anytime. The documentation I have includes everything from PHS verifying it is a Ram Air III car and its factory
options, Original mileage documentation and purchase history showing I brought it back to the states from Canada
and that's it.

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.
