1976 Trans Am 455 / 4spd "barn Find" on 2040-cars
Church Hill, Tennessee, United States
Im offering up one of the jewels of my personal stash! this is a complete, NEVER wrecked, NEVER blown, NEVER molested 1976 Trans Am 455/4spd car. It has only had the OEM radio and the A/C compressor removed. The a/c lines were not damaged and remain intact. It DOES RUN and DRIVE! This car was discovered in a local mans basement a couple years ago by a buddy of mine, where it had been setting since july of 1995! This is an original all OEM 455 car. The car needs and is certainly worthy of a ground up restoration. Everytime I drive this car I catch myself looking in the glove box for my Eagles 8-track! It runs, drives, and feels like a Trans Am should, tight and quick! The engine has been massaged and has a nice torquey sound and feel. THE BODY - Suffers from the all too typical rust as most T/As do, However its effects are limited to the qtr panels and the floor pan. THERE IS NO RUST OUT! In the drain trays, trunk floor, cowl panel, or sub rails! The RT Qtr will require full replacement, the LFT Qtr needs the panel behind the wheel opening. a small area in the pass front floor and the toe bd on the drivers floor. The car has never had a repaint. There are new replacements for the missing fender foilers included THE INTERIOR - Shows typical wear for a T/A of these yrs. there are no components missing. Most of the interior is tired, however the steering wheel/column are in good condition, the upper door panels are nice, the lowers are salvageable as well. the console is nice and its solid. The headliner and sail panels are most likely canidates for replacement as well. the dash is crack free. The OEM radio is missing but all other components are intact. A new carpet kit is included. THE ENGINE - Is smooth and powerful. It appears to have been rebuilt or @ least warmed over. It has what feels and sounds like a Ram Air III cam, headers and new dual exhaust. The tranny is the correct muncie with OEM shifter. The clutch is toast and needs replaced. Not having to rebuilding the engine saves a boatload of cash on the restoration. The A/C pump has been removed, but the lines have been covered to protect em.
Im selling this car as-is where-is. I fully expect the winning bidder to pick this up in East TN. I will assist with loading onto your carrier I have so many projects that Ima lifetime behind, thats the only reason Im letting it go. It will make an excellent restoration of one of pontiacs finest examples of horsepower and grace. I am more than willing to provide any information that will allow a bidder to make a well informed intelligent decision. Please ask any questions you might have. The winning bidder will be required to make a deposit of $1000.00 thru paypal @ the end of the auction with the balance due in cash or certified funds upon pick up. If you have a boatload of neg feedback you need to contact me before bidding. Thanks for viewing my auction and good luck! |

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels
Sat, 14 Dec 2013We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall
Wed, 09 Apr 2014General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.
