1978 Trans Am Macho T/A #33
Rare low mileage car from single owner family
Black and Gold- original paint
** Original 400 eng. and 4-Speed trans. **
needs restoration
** Original woman owner parked this rare car in 1991 or 1992 and it has been waiting to be restored since then. The car ran and drove fine when parked. A family member convinced her to let him restore the car about 4 years ago and he took out the gas tank, radiator, fender wells, door panels and headliner. He then had marital problems so he stopped and parked her again. Being a rare T/A collector, I heard of this car many years ago but only recently found it and convinced the owners to sell.
This Macho has it's original engine (vin stamp on front verifies)
Engine turns over and ran when parked but has been not been started for over 20 years.
She has Utah rust from driving daily for the first 12-14 years. Salted roads took their toll on rear quarter bottoms (inner and outer) and rear lower bumper brace. Floors and trunk look fine. Factory undercoating. Paint is original and faded. Interior is original. Original Black Velour seats look just like a 73k mile car seat should, just dirty. Dash cracked. Original carpet, etc. Door panels and headliner are gone.
** Very few 4-speed Macho's were built....I know, I have all 1978-1979 Macho T/A records. Black and Gold is the most desired and this one has had one owner since new. The lady did not abuse the car, only neglected it in the last years before parked.
** This Macho comes with a huge pile of reciepts from 1980 to 1991 when she was parked.
** Also comes with Mecham records, Macho brochure and new console ID plate. (old one stolen)
** My garages are full (as you can see from pics) and want to see this car go to the right home and someone who will do a great job bringing her back to glory. My Macho #126 Silver Anniversary car recently went to a Great home and is now restored as well as my #4, #9,#21,#52, #87,#90, #121,#142, #146 and #173. I presently own #77, #101, #199 ..... 1979 #92 and #96 ..... 1979 Macho Z #7 (last one made) and 1997 Macho T/A #1 Prototype. I have records for all Mecham cars built in 1978 and 1979 and can verify all vin #'s and options ordered. I also have some MSE items that I purchased from Dennis Mecham many years ago, if you need any. Sorry, the other Macho's I have are not for sale....they are stored for retirement.
*** Best Offer takes this rare car home ***

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC
Thu, 06 Feb 2014We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.
Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
