I have for sale a VERY SOLID RUST FREE 1979 10th Anniversary Pontiac Trans Am. It is equipped with it's original 403 Olds motor and Turbo 350 Transmission. Car runs nice, but original carb needs to be rebuilt. I got it running with a friends carb and that DOES NOT go with the car. The car is loud at the moment, because it was missing exhaust manifolds when i bought it. I believe the previous owner was going to put headers on it and never did. I put the correct manifolds on it, but they are not hooked up to the exhaust, which is missing the downpipes.  She moves around and drives, but there are no brakes at the moment. Motor looks to have been rebuilt, but i have no paperwork to verify. Was painted, so i'm assuming the motor was pulled at some point.

The previous owner had the car stripped down and covered it in a crappy primer, which is why you see surface rust.  I assure you, there is no rot through that i can see on this car.  Everything is solid.  I have video's of the car running along with video of me under the car and walking around it. I can email them to interested bidders.

The interior of the car is nice. The dash is UNCRACKED. Floors are solid.  Has the original radio that works.  The interior panels are driver quality.  Needs new carpet if you want it to be a show car.  Seats need to be recovered.  Steering wheel is very nice. Has tilt column with cruise control (unsure if it works, never tested it).

She needs a full restoration, but think of all the time and money that will be saved due to the condition of the body!!  These are hard to find, and even harder to find (especially around here) in this condition. Buyer is responsible for shipping, but i will assist the best as i can.  Please ask ?'s before you bid.  Serious bidders only. Thanks and Good Luck!!

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
