You are looking at a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 6.6 in remarkable condition.  This California (currently with Oregon title) car is a numbers matching unmolested survivor with only 83k miles on her.  The car has not even been detailed.  It is nice and reliable enough to use as a daily driver and as a highly optioned car it is an excellent candidate for restoration.  It has T-tops, the factory tuned suspension package, gauge package (all working - including tach and clock), power disk brakes, power steering, power windows, posi-traction, and bucket seats/console.  The car starts, stops, and drives as it should.  The engine runs smoothly and the air conditioning blows cold (it was just recharged).  The power windows work as they should.  The doors, hood and trunk all close nicely.  The T-tops are in excellent condition with no spider webbing and they don't leak!  The T-top storage bags are in the trunk.  The seats are in excellent shape.  The carpets, door panels, headliner and visors are in great shape too.  The tires are 90%.  The original radio has been replaced with a CD changer, but the dash was not cut for the installation.  The dual exhaust appears to have been recently re-done to original specs, right down to the chrome tips.

I test drove this car for a few hours on a hot California day with no troubles.  She handled the mountain curves well, does not smoke, and runs cool.  She was recently shown at Kool April Nites in Redding, CA, which is a HUGE car show.  She drew lots of attention from TA lovers.  Everyone remarked about how original the car is, even the California emissions gear is intact.

The car is in need of a paint job as the previous owner did a budget re-paint.  I describe it as a "20-footer." It's fine as a driver, but with a proper paint job would be a true beauty. Only the exterior was painted so the original factory door and trunk tags are intact.  This car is very straight and true.  Body lines and door seams all align properly.  The glass is good and does not leak.  There is a small spot which I presume to be rust immediately forward of the driver's door on the bottom of the quarter panel.  It's smaller than a quarter.  I included a picture of this. With a thorough examination, I have found no other rust or evidence of previous accident history.  Please feel free to ask any questions.  I have attempted to be thorough in my description but cannot possibly hit on everything, so just ask!  You may also call me with questions.

Thanks for looking, but now it's time to place your bid.  I am listing with NO RESERVE, so don't wait as this car will be sold to the highest bigger!  You will not be disappointed.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.
