A very nice original, numbers matching, 1979 SE Trans AM (Bandit Edition).403 Motor with 350 turbo automatic transmission, T-tops, AC, AM/FM CB radio, Ziebart rustproofing and undercoating, inflatable spare with bottle, power steering, power brakes, black vinyl interior with gold trim. This is a very nice TA, a real head turner. I replaced the drivers seat vinyl and foam, headliner, plug wires, rotor cap, distributor cap, windshield washer motor, pcv valve, front shocks(rear has air shocks),high blower relay, door cups, dash bulbs, mud flaps, custom floor mats, alarm system,Borla dual exhaust, functional hood shaker, license plate frames, valve stem caps, new heater core(not installed) and many other small items that I can't think of. I purchased the car in February of 2010.After purchase I had rear differential fluid changed and checked, radiator flushed and filled, brakes checked, transmission fluid changed and checked, and regular oil changes. I purchased the car from an elderly gentleman who had the car for about 6 years in climate controlled storage. I store the car in my garage under a car cover. I have the original build sheet, warrenty brochure, paint codes brochure, owner's manual, shop manual, Pontiac sales brochures, etc..)and original T-Top storage bags. It has very nice honeycomb wheels with an extra spare tire with honeycomb wheel. I have added chrome to the motor (dip sticks, altanetor pulley, fluid caps, bolt caps, brake fluid cap)but I do have the original parts. I installed cup holders in the center console that look stock. The shaker has a functioning flap that opens with increased air intake.    Items that need to be attended to: clock works sometimes(it has a mind of its own), AC system has leak at front of compressor. It still uses R-12 and I finally found a can to charge the system but it eventually leaked at clutch pulley (green dye in system). Compressor stayed engaged after charge but eventually starting going off and on. System blows cool but not cold ( Did blow cold with freon charge).Engine has small oil leak that leaks a couple of drops a month.    Again i want to state....This is a very nice car with no rust or bondo or floor patches. This TA drives very straight and tight, no rattles, doors do not sag, hood and trunk close tight, all electrical works, interior is very nice, and paint looks very nice. I baby this car only driving to car shows and around town to blow the gas out of system. I always drive it responsibly but it does have the power to burn rubber and haul ass!    If you have any  questions please email me and I will answer any questions or give you my phone number. Thanks

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.
